At lunch, I plonk down at a table with Arai, still on edge from this morning.

"What's up with you?" He says as I poke at my food aggressively. "Finally accepted that I'm gonna beat you this afternoon?" He says grinning, but I shoot him a glare which shuts him up. I sigh running my hands through my hair.

"Sorry just a bit frustrated," I say and he tilts his head.

"Wanna vent? I'm almost as good at listening as I am at running," I roll my eyes at his lame joke, but venting would definitely get heaps off my shoulder.

"Yesterday when I was trying to find my way to the field I went to the gym to ask someone for directions. The gym is where the boys volleyball team trains so I ran into them and asked for directions. As I was about to leave, I was gonna get hit in the face with a ball but a guy blocked it and stopped me. I forgot to thank him but I saw him this morning so I figured I would just thank him then. First of all, when I was trying to thank him he didn't even notice me and didn't take his earphones off until I told him to. Then, when I was thanking him he interrupted me and asked me if I was confessing to him which is ridiculous I don't even know the guy's name! Then he proceeded to insult me and say he doesn't date 'girls like me'. I mean sure I get I'm a little all over the place but that doesn't give him the right to say something like that!" I take a deep breath at the end of my vent as Arai nods.

"This guy sounds like a complete jerk," he says and I huff.

"Tell me about it."

"Just avoid him. High school always has stuck up guys it's just a matter of finding the good ones, like me," I scoff and throw my empty juice box at him as we laugh together.

A few tables away, someone has their eyes locked on me without me knowing.

"Tsuki? You ok?" Yamaguchi says to his friend who's barely touched his food. He watches me as I laugh with his jaw clenched and an unknowing feel of jealousy rising.

"I'm fine," he replies coldly.

"Are you sure? You're more quiet than usual."

"I said I'm fine Yamaguchi just drop it," Yamaguchi listens to his friend, and Tsukishima doesn't take his eyes off of me and Arai as we laugh together. He can't put his finger on why this is bothering him so much, but all he knows is the only explanation is he must hate me for some reason. That's the only reason he'd be feeling so strongly towards me.

"Shibuki, nice to see you dressed and on time," Arai says as he stretches on the floor and I gently kick his leg.

"I bet you're nervous to go against me," I say joining him in stretching and he snickers.

"You wish. It's not too late to back down you know?"

"I never back down out of deals," I say and we continue to chat as we stretch together.

We went in order for the timing. The third years went first and Fukuda, being team captain, obviously got the best time. Then it was the second years... And then finally Arai and I.

Arai and I stand at the start line doing last minute quick stretches.

"May the best runner win," Arai says looking at me and I grin, looking straight ahead as I touch my fingers to the ground.

"I plan on it," I reply and he returns my grin as we await the whistle blow.

Once I hear the whistle. I push off immediately and begin to sprint down the track. The wind pushes my hair back as I smile at the feeling. I've always loved running. It's so freeing in the moment and it makes you feel like you're flying in a strange indescribable way. I don't even pay attention to Arai since I know if I do it'll just make me panic.
