Tsukishima mumbles to himself as he walks to the back of the school, reading over the tips Yamaguchi wrote him for the fifth time already today. He then looks up, seeing her sitting peacefully on a bench with her hands shoved in her lap and watching the wind blow in the trees. He gulps, crumpling up the paper and shoving it in his pockets before walking over. Once she notices him, his heart melts at the way her mouth curves into a smile and she waves happily while tucking some hair behind her ear.

"Hey," he says as he sits down next to me and I offer a smile to him.

"Hi! Look at the two birds in the tree, they have a nest together isn't that cute!" I say pointing to the tree and he follows me gaze.

"Oh yeah, is that what you were staring at?" I nod and he hums. We sit in silence for a bit, and I sigh knowing we shouldn't avoid it any longer.

"I'm sorry about avoiding you," I say and he shrugs.

"Why did you?" I rub my neck, laughing awkwardly.

"You see... it's embarrassing for me to say but it's unfair if I don't tell you," he nods, urging me to continue and I fiddle with the hem of my skirt. "It's just that I've never dated anyone before or gone on a date or anything like that... so this is all very new for me," he nods, keeping eye contact which only makes me more nervous. "So I started avoiding you because I was scared I wouldn't know how to act or speak to you, and I was kinda right! My heart is pounding right now!" I giggle and he smiles gently. "Anyway, I'm sorry that was unfair of me."

"It's ok... I uh understand where you're coming from. I'm the same, I don't know how to do any of this," he says as we both laugh together.

"It's comforting to know we're just as clueless as each other," I sigh and he nods. "Ok well then... let's just do things our way! I mean it's not like there's a certain way to act when you're dating someone anyway," he nods in agreement.

"Yeah... I guess we'll just figure things out together," I nod happily at him making him smile down at me in return.

"Well... I haven't eaten my lunch yet! Wanna eat together?" I say and he nods as we both pull out our lunches and begin eating silently.

"Are you coming to our practice match today?" He says and I frown.

"I have training..." I watch as his smile fades slightly and I bite my lip. "Don't worry! I'll get Arai to cover for me!"

"No it's ok..."

"No really! I can miss one training session it's ok!" He seems unsure but doesn't want to argue so he eventually just agrees and drops the subject. "I haven't... you know, told anyone about this by the way," I mumble, sipping from my juice and he looks down at me.

"What do you mean?" I shrug.

"I just assumed that you would want to stay a secret for now, and I'm totally ok with that!" He looks down at his lap as I rub my neck.

Tsukishima bites the inside of his cheek. He didn't want to say anything, but he did want to keep this a secret. Not because he's ashamed to be with her or anything like that, but purely because he was scared. Tsukishima is a person who's comfortable with routine, change makes him nervous. Dating the girl majority of people assumed he hated, is definitely a big change. He's just grateful she understands.

"Yeah thanks, I didn't want to say anything but I'd prefer if we didn't tell people yet," he says and I look down slowly. I shouldn't feel upset, I said so myself that I'm ok with being quiet about us. Still, hearing your boyfriend say he doesn't want people knowing about you is a bit of a kick in the gut. I laugh awkwardly, standing up and dusting my skirt off making him look at me confused.
