I knew starting high school would be scary, but I didn't anticipate it to be this scary.
I feel so overwhelmed walking through these halls! Flyers for clubs are being shoved in my face no matter where I turn..I didn't even know an occult club was a thing!
Luckily I don't have to worry about picking a club to join. In middle school I was the best track runner, and I won multiple small tournaments. I once made it to nationals, but unfortunately no further than that. I was hoping to get a scholarship to Nekoma High School in Tokyo, but I wasn't offered it...nevertheless Karasuno offered me a scholarship so here we are!
All my friends from middle school went to different high schools, meaning I know no one here and it's now up to me to make new friends! That's not too difficult... I hope. I just hope I don't embarrass myself completely on my first day.
I scratch my head as I walk around the school, my face burried in a map. I have no idea where the track team usually meets up... In fact I have no idea where anything in this school is! I suppose checking the gym would be the best place to start, worst case scenario there's a different club there but I can ask them for directions! Good plan!
I walk up to the big gym door, and from inside I can hear balls smashing and shoes squeaking. There's people in there, hopefully this plan doesn't backfire.
"Excuse me," a voice says behind me. I jump and spin around and I'm met with a chest in a black tracksuit. Oh shoot... they're tall. My eyes move up to see a boy looking down at me and I gulp under his intimidating stare. He has short blonde hair and square framed glasses resting on his nose as his hands are shoved in his pockets with a bag lazily slung on his shoulder. I clear my throat, not realizing how long I was staring.
"S-sorry!" I say jumping out the way. He raises an eyebrow before walking in, not saying anything and I furrow my eyebrows. No need to be all salty. I peek my head in after him to see a bunch of guys jumping and flying across a volleyball court and I stare in awe. Definitely not the track club, but these guys are amazing!
"Oi! Peeper!" Someone calls out and I flinch seeing a guy with a buzz cut waving at me while standing next to a shorter boy, a single piece of bleached hair amongst his spikey updo. I clear my throat, gripping my bag tighter and stepping in walking over to him. "You need something?" He says and I nod.
"Yeah! Sorry for intruding but-"
"Ah you wanna be a new female manager?" The shorter one says and my eyes widen.
"Oh N-n-"
"Ennoshita! Get over here!" Buzz cut yells and a guy with a tired face walks over with a raised eyebrow. "This shorty wants to be a new manager," he says pointing to me and I deadpan.
"Oh really? I guess Yachi could start training her. That was quick, the new first years aren't even here yet-"
"Ahem!" I clear my throat loudly, interrupting the three boys. They look down at me as I sigh.
"I'm not looking to be the new manager," I say and they all tilt their heads in unison.
"Then what are you doing here?" Blonde streak says and I rub my neck.
"I just needed to ask for directions. I'm on the track team but I don't know where to go," I say and Ennoshita smacks buzz cut over the head before smiling at me apologetically.
"Sorry about that, these two idiots get excited over anything to do with girls," the two guys smile bashfully before getting shooed away by the more calm one. "I'm Ennoshita, captain of the boys volleyball team," he says and I smile in return.
