"Ok rice... check. Eggs, check. Bread, check. Sugar, check..." I go through my mental shopping list, looking at the items in my basket as I walk around the supermarket. I hope mama makes it home in time to cook, the last time I tried to cook I burnt the pan, which I didn't even know was something I could do...
"Himikochan?" I turn around confused at the voice saying my name, my eyes widening when I see who's standing behind me.
"Yamamoto?!" I say and his eyes light up, hugging me tightly and spinning me around as I laugh.
"I knew I recognized that birds nest hair!" He says as I look him up and down.
"You look so different! What's with the mohawk?" I snicker as he poses, showing off his hair.
"You like?" I smile awkwardly making him glare at me before we laugh. "It's been forever since I've seen you last!" He says ruffling my hair as I nod happily.
Yamamoto and I went to the same middle school. He was two grades above me and we became very good friends after the track team and volleyball team were put together one day. When he graduated though and went to Nekoma high we fell out of contact. He was part of the reason I wanted to go to Nekoma high school but unfortunately I didn't make it so we had no way to communicate.
"What are you doing here!? Shouldn't you be at Tokyo!?" I say and he grins.
"We have a practice match with another school here tomorrow so we're spending the night here! I had no idea I was going to run into you, we have to catch up!" He says and I nod excited.
"Yes just let me finish this!" He follows me around as I hurry to finish my groceries and pay, and then we head out to a cafe nearby to catch up.
"Man so you must be a high school first year! You look older!" I roll my eyes.
"I can see you're still the same jerk you were in middle school," he snickers.
"And I can see you're still the same slob?" I glare at him as we both laugh. "Please tell me you're still in track?" He says and I nod proudly.
"That's how I got into high school! On scholarship!"
"Oh that's right because you're even dumber than me!" I stomp on his foot under the table making him wince but grin. "So which school was dumb enough to take you?" I scoff.
"I'll have you know I've won all my races so far!"
"Well yeah of course, you're the best runner I know!" I roll my eyes at the obvious flattering.
"Karasuno high school took me for your information," his eyes widen as he gasps dramatically.
"Karasuno!? No way I know them! They're the school we're here to go against!" My eyes widen matching his expression.
"No way! Really!? I'm really good friends with the volleyball team!"
"You should come watch me kick their butts tomorrow then!" I snicker, crossing my arms.
"You wish! The team will definitely rub you in the dirt!" He snickers and my phone begins to ring, startling us both.
"Excuse me," he nods as I pull it out. Tsukishima. My face goes red upon remembering last night, and I hesitantly answer it. "Hello..." I say slowly, wincing at my awkwardness as Yamamoto snickers.
"Oh hey. I just stopped by your house but you weren't there. Rina said you're out getting groceries?"
"Oh yeah I was. I ran into an old friend though so we're catching up," I say and I hear Tsukishima hum.
