I was pleasantly surprised at the way Tsukishima acted for the rest of the week. I mean sure he was still a little distant when we were surrounded by others, but the bullying stopped and instead he'd just send me a smirk whenever passing me in the halls or seeing me at training. He also showed up after training sometimes, offering to spend time with Rina and take her off my hands while I clean and study. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm really happy at the moment. I mean, it feels like we're friends and I guess that's what we are? It's obvious he's uncomfortable with expressing his emotions so I feel special that he's trying for me.
I wash the dishes as I can hear Rina and Tsukishima laughing from the lounge. It's Saturday and I assume he doesn't like spending time at home which is why he's here so often. As long as it stops him from hanging out at that sketchy place then I am perfectly fine with it. As I'm washing, the doorbell rings and I grimace since I'm in the middle of something.
"I can get it," Tsukishima says poking his head into the kitchen and I smile thankfully at him. I quickly finish up and dry my hands on my apron, going to the door to see who's there.
"Why are you at her house!?" I sigh at Arai's loud voice yelling, guess we know who it is.
"Arai?" I say, pushing Tsukishima out the way as he smirks at Arai.
"Why is Tsukishima at your house?!" He says and I roll my eyes.
"Relax he's just looking after Rina while I'm busy, and you've been over many times don't act so surprised!" I say and he just glares at Tsukishima before looking down at me. "What's up?"
"About that stupid double date, how is tomorrow?" He says and I tilt my head.
"Oh I forgot about that... Is tomorrow ok for you?" I say looking at Tsukishima, shocked when I see him covering the lower half of his face with a blush. He just silently nods making Arai scoff and me quickly looking away, also now blushing.
"Suzu wants to go to the cafe near the school," Arai says and I clear my throat.
"Yeah that sounds good, text me the time you guys decide!" I say and he nods, glancing at Tsukishima who's still recovering from the excitement of finally getting this date.
"Maybe I should come in for a bit-" I spin Arai around, pushing him out the door.
"Bye Arai!" I say loudly and he looks over his shoulder as I continue to try push him.
"If I find out you did anything to Shibuki then I will kill you-"
"See you tomorrow!" I slam the door in his face, sighing deeply before turning to face Tsukishima.
"I'm sorry about him. Thank you for trying to fix things with him though I really appreciate it-"
"You know, he has a point," Tsukishima says softly and I tilt my head confused.
"About what?" My eyes widen as Tsukishima begins to walk towards me, backing me up so that I'm against the front door. I hold my breath, biting my tongue as he smirks down at me.
"About having me over all the time alone," he whispers and my eyes dart around, trying to avoid eye contact.
"Y-yeah but I trust you," I say as I laugh awkwardly and he bends down to my height.
"But you know how I feel about you... don't you feel a little weird having me here alone?" He grins as my heart races, almost like I can feel it thumping in my chest. I hope he can't hear it...
"We're not alone... R-rina is here!" I say and he just stares into my eyes with a smirk and I swear I can feel my lungs tighten out of nerves. He then lets out a chuckle, standing up straight and stepping back.
