When we were in the forest, I looked around for any herbs that would prove useful. There happened to be a lot, especially ones to help with pregnancy and conceive. It made me wonder if the females would take this. I was collecting the twigs while Curtis and Parker got firewood.

"Kagome, you should collect these after I'm done with the trunk. I don't want you to get hurt." Parker said, making me look at him. His top half was exposed, his skin glistening with sweat. My body stiffened up when I saw this. I took a quick glance at Curtis, he was also sweating.

"O-okay. Be safe." I told them as I tried to dowse my arousal. I placed the firewood into a neat pile, trying to tie it into a bundle.

"Kagome, come look!" Parker called to me. I walked over to see what he wanted to show me. "There's something delicious I this tree. I'll yank it out."

"Something delicious?" I tilted my head in wonder.

"Yeah." Parker then ripped the bark off and stuck his hand into a hole. He then pulled out a green caterpillar like bug. I flinched, backing away.

"Is that what you were talking about?" I said nervously. Ever since Mistress Centipede, then Naraku, I have been iffy around bugs. He nodded. I backed away further. "I'm not eating that, stay far away from me." I said a little fearfully.

Curtis heard the sound of my tone and came over to me. He looked at my slightly trembling form, then turned his attention to Parker holding the wiggling worm. I clung onto Curtis.

"Whatever. I can't waste it, though." Parker said before he threw it into his mouth and ate it. I shivered in disgust. Curtis narrowed his eyes and swatted his tail at Parker, who groaned from the impact. Curtis then looked to me.

"Snow, are you okay?" He asked me.

"Just trauma. Dealt with too many bug demons to last me a lifetime." I weakly smiled up at him.

"Here, let's get your mind off it." He said as he shuffled me over to a tree. "I found some eggs. Do you want to eat some?"

"Eggs?" I perked up at that. "Yeah, what kind of eggs?" Then I had second thoughts as soon as he climbed up the tree. "Actually, never mind. That could be someone's kids. Nobody hunts the young while hunting."

Curtis picked up a leaf and made it into a cone like bowl. He picked up the eggs and placed them into the leaf bowl. I flinched, then arched a brow.

"Hey, Curtis, don't take them!" I shouted to him. He coiled his tail around the branch, covered the leaf bowl with his hand before he dropped down to me. He hung upside down with a small smile.

"Don't worry. This is the egg of a shortbird. It typically doesn't hatch. They lay an egg every day, too. If you don't eat it, they'll pierce the shell with their beaks and eat it themselves." Curtis told me as he handed the bowl full of eggs to me.

Isn't that like a chicken? I mused as I took the bowl, looking at the many eggs within. They did remind me of the white eggs at home, like medium sized ones. I suddenly heard flapping of wings. I looked up to find a bird pecking at Curtis' tail. I silently giggled as Curtis looked up at the bird. He was beyond pissed. He leaned up and clenched the bird in his hand.

"Don't kill it! Let's bring it home so it can lay eggs for us." I told him.

"Sure." Curtis smiled down at me while the bird was screeching at him angrily. We tied a string around the bird, so it could walk beside us. I placed the eggs in the jewel. We found three more shortbirds in the mean time. I tied a leash around them and they sat beside me until the men were done tying the bundles. They put the bundles on their back.
