"I, like... can't fucking stand Ethan." "I was wondering," Maddy softly smiled. She noticed the dynamics between the two but thought it wasn't her place to call it out. She knew Kat would talk whenever she was ready. "I don't know."
Maddy nodded for Kat to continue as Kat glanced down. "He's, like, sweet, and, like, something good finally happens, and I'm, like, a million times more miserable." "Well, there's a difference between what you think you should want, and what you actually want." "How do I know what I want?" "You don't."
"Then, what's the whole world always talking about?" "People are retarded," Maddy shrugged. Kat interrupted her by letting out an awkward laugh. "No, seriously, people are fսck¡ng retarded." "Maddy, I don't think you can say that word."
Maddy ignored her comment. "This shit is hard and confusing." Kat sighed, "it really is." "The last thing you need is to feel worse because you're not feeling something you're supposed to feel. You do what feels good to you."
Kat chuckled lightly, her lip quivering. "I love you," she pouted. Maddy was literally the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Kat didn't know what she wanted in a relationship but she for sure knew that Maddy was the type of friend she needed. "I love you, too."
Maddy looked down and then looked up at her best friend with a small smile. "You know what would feel good?" "What?" "Dancing with me on my birthday." Maddy's smile was replaced with a smirk.
It was now her mission to make sure Kat would have a night full of happiness. "Okay," Kat chuckled while playfully rolling her eyes. "Come on," Maddy dragged her to the rest of the girls. Lexi instantly mouthed to Maddy, 'is she ok?' Maddy softly nodded, 'boy troubles'.
Lexi decided Maddy's advice was enough. Even if she wanted to help, Lexi couldn't, she had no experience with boys. "So, what did you girls do while I was gone." "We were trying to teach Lexi how to twerk. For when she gets a boo."
Lexi blushed slightly while her mother and BB continued teasing her. "I- it was bad," Lexi said while covering her face and letting out an awkward laugh. "Well let's continue those lessons. I got great pointers." "Trust me when I say Maddy is the best twerker."
"Yeah, that's why all the boys want to dance with her," BB teased. Lexi shook her head, "no I'm ok." "You can't refuse the party girl." Lexi sighed while moving next to Maddy. Cassie sat on the stairs while rolling her eyes.
Meanwhile, there was a knock on the door. Since Cassie was the closest, she was the one that heard it. She moved towards the door anxiously. Could it be Nate? She opened the door to see Nate, who in her opinion looked handsome.
"Hi," she softly said with a smile. "Is Maddy here," he questioned while ignoring her. "Yeah," Cassie said a bit annoyed and disappointed. Nate moved passed her and into the house. To his surprise the girls were teaching Lexi how to twerk. Lexi was the first to notice him standing there awkwardly.
Her eyes widened and she stood up straight. "Didn't mean to interrupt little Howard finally letting loose." Lexi tensed up, she hated Nate and she hated being called little. Maddy walked up to him and lightly pushed him. "Don't be mean to her."
Maddy glanced over her shoulder to see where Cassie was. Nate chuckled lightly and held his hands up. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make her feel bad. Sorry, Alexandra." Lexi just sent him a fake smile before rolling her eyes and moving to the other side of the room.
He held up her present, "as promised. This is being personally given to you." Suze lowered the music, "open it now." Maddy smiled while taking the present and placing it on the counter making sure she could turn her shoulder and see Cassie. She opened the bag to see a small box.
She smiled while turning to smile some more at Cassie. Something that didn't seem out of the ordinary since they are best friends. However, this action made Cassie fake a smile before chugging down the rest of her drink. She opened the box to see a heart shaped necklace. She smiled at Nate while holding up the necklace.
"Can you put it on me?" Nate couldn't resist her charms, her cute little smile or the twinkle in her eyes. He didn't care if Cassie would tell her about them because of this. He grabbed the necklace and smiled at her, "turn around." She turned around and move her hair out of the way.
Once he put it on, she reached up to kiss him on the cheek. At the same time, Nate thought she was going to kiss him on the lips, so he leaned down too. They ended up kissing each other's cheeks. "Stay here, I'll be back with a drink." Truth was Maddy was thinking of getting back together with Nate.
Today had reminded her how sweet he could be. That, however, didn't change the fact that she needed to teach him a lesson. Nate nodded while standing by as Kat and Maddy made their way to the drinks. Meanwhile, Cassie moved near the couch where her mother was laying. Suze noticed that her daughter was drinking a lot.
"How are you feeling," she questioned her. "I feel fine, don't I look fine."
Cassie then got up and rushed to the bathroom with a new wine cooler. Suze got up to congratulate Nate on the present he got Maddy. "You did good, big fella," she patted his arm while giggling drunk. Maddy walked up to him excited with a beer in her hand. "Hey, I'm going to head out but, um, happy birthday."
"Why? Don't go," she said in a sweet tone. He shyly looked down at her. He loved the attention he was getting from her. Hell, he was more than loving it, but he kept feeling like he wasn't welcome.
He knew Lexi didn't like him and could feel Kat was also uncomfortable with his presence. Kat just hid it better. He also was 99.9% sure that if the girls spoke up on the topic, Maddy would ask him to leave. "Well, I just thought I'd give you guys a little bit of girl time." "That's so sweet."
He smiled while holding onto her hand. "No, you should stay." At the same time a drunk Cassie was tumbling down the stairs in a hot pink one piece swimming suit.
