"Wake up you lazy girl!"I was awoken by a yell, and suddenly hit the cold hardwood floor. Looking up, I saw Miss Michelle. Behind her stood all of the other high school girls, smirking. I sighed heavily. It never stopped. "You slept in!" Michelle cried. I kept my head down, never making eye contact. "I'm sorry" I muttered, staring at the floor. Michelle glared at me until she walked out of the room, still muttering about how much she hated her job. For the millionth time, I wondered why she owned an orphanage if she hated kids. The other girls began to walk out of the room, most of them staring at me smugly at me as they passed. A few girls just ignored me, never nice, but never mean either.
After the room was empty, I started getting dressed.Glancing at the clock, I panicked. It as 6:56. School started at 7:30, and it was a long walk. I ran over to the big dresser that we all shared. Quickly, I pulled out jeans, a old t-shirt, and a thin jacket. The jeans were a few inches too long, the jacket too short, but I was used to it. I ran to school, making it to first period just as the bell rang.
I slumped in my chair, exhausted. My English teacher began droning on about the book we were reading. I sat there and doodled on my journal. My faded blue backpack hung on my chair. I put my head in my arms and almost drifted off. After completing my chores and homework yesterday, I got a grand total of 4 and a half hours of sleep.
"Renezma!" Mr. McDivitt called my name out. I jumped and looked up at him. "It's Renesmee." I said quietly. He looked at me sternly. "Excuse me?" I told him again."My name is Renesmee, sir." He narrowed his eyes at me. "Well, Renesmee, would you care to answer my question?"
I looked around nervously. What was the question? With an annoyed look, he ordered me to read the second paragraph of To Kill A Mockingbird out loud, then explain the metaphor. My hands began to sweat and my face turned beet red. Shakily, I told him,"No sir."
Furious, he ordered me to leave the classroom. He sent me to the security office, with a note in my hand. It explained that I had "disrespected" him in front of the class. Once I got to the office, I told the security my side of the story. They looked at me in disbelief. Of course they refused to believe what I said. After all, I was just the troubled little orphan. They all expected me to start problems. Then, the angry looking office lady gave me a detention slip, and sent me to 2nd period.
I hate my life.
