(A/N: This is it guys. The last chapter!) <3
"Renesmee, hurry Honey! We're going to be late!" I tripped over my shoelace as I ran down the hall. Mumbling under my breath, I shoved the lace into my shoe and darted down the stairs. "Coming, Mom! Coming, coming, coming!" I was in a panic as I spun around the living room in search of my folder. I finally saw the flash of purple under the newspaper on the table, and quickly grabbed the folder. I ran to the front door, smiling apologetically to Bella as I passed. She just smiled and followed me to the car.
Edward was already in the driver's seat as I pulled the backdoor of the Volvo open. Bella got into the passenger seat just as I was buckling my seat belt, and as soon as he heard the click, Edward took off, driving as fast as always. Despite his vampire instincts, Edward's driving almost always scared me. As I looked at the clock, though, I found myself wishing he would go faster. I couldn't be late to this.
In record time, Edward pulled up in front of the big brick building. Not waiting for my parents, I jumped from the car and ran inside the wide front door of the building. The secretary at the front desk stood up as I entered, and hurried to keep up with me as I made my way to the Conference Room. "Okay, Renesmee. You've got this. It's really simple, in and out. You'll talk about the progress that's been made, then you'll review the slideshow, and talk about the goals for the future. Got it?" I nodded as we reached the double doors. Through the window in the wood, I could see the big table that was full of people. "Yep. Thanks, Niki".
Taking a second to breath and run a hand through my hair to make sure it didn't look too crazy, I opened the heavy door. All eyes turned to look at me. Despite all of the practice I had gotten over the last few months, I still had to fight the instinct to cringe away from the attention. Folding my hands behind my back to hide the fact that they were shaking, I put on my most confident smile. "Morning, guys. Sorry if I'm late".
Carlisle smiled at me from his seat at the head of the table. "Not at all, Renesmee. You're right on time. On the dot, actually". Letting out a relieved sigh, I went to my seat directly beside Carlisle. At my nod, he stood up. "Alright. This meeting is to address the progress that the RCC Foundation has made since December, and to come to a decision as to where we plan on taking this Foundation. Are there any questions before we start?" Silence filled the room. Making eye contact with me, Carlisle said, "Alright, then, Renesmee. You have the floor".
Once again focusing on hiding my shaking hands, I picked up the little remote and walked to stand near the Projector. "Okay. So, though I'm sure you all remember, I just want to remind you that any goals we make for this foundation should be in an effort to meet our overall objective of making the foster system and any extending orphanages safe and nurturing for children. With that in mind, let's go over what we've been doing for the past few months".
I pressed the button on the remote, and my first picture popped up on the screen. Thankfully, Carlisle had put the slideshow together, and at my request, hadn't put any words into it. Despite my constant tutoring sessions, I was still working on sounding out words. "This is from the very beginning of January, when we ran that Winter Clothing drive. With both the drive and through our donating businesses, we managed to give thousands of foster children coats, gloves, hats, and blankets".
I looked out at the table, wondering if I was doing okay. I wasn't a natural leader by any means. But this was my foundation, and I didn't want to sit by and do nothing when I had the power to help people. Everyone in the conference room was looking at me, either focused on what I was saying, or doing a good job at faking it. I wondered if they felt uncomfortable, having a teenager lead their conference. Shaking off the thought, I forced myself to focus.
