(**A/N: I have the next several chapters already written, but they'll be uploaded pretty randomly over the next month. I have one chapter specifically that I want to upload either on Christmas Eve or Christmas (haven't decided which yet), so I'm trying to pace my updates to match that.**)

Jacob and I ended up staying out way later than we intended to. We were sitting in the meadow full of flowers for probably close to an hour. All we did was talk. He wanted to know every detail about me, from my favorite smell to my favorite flavor of potato chips. Looking around the field, he asked me, "What's your favorite kind of flower?" I didn't hesitate as I told him that I loved camellias. Jacob grinned at my answer.

"You know" he said slyly "Camellias are Bella's favorite flower, too. She used to decorate every room with them. Even her daughter's bedroom." From the intense look in Jacob's gaze I felt like he was trying to hint at something, though I wasn't sure what. I realized that I hadn't known Bella had once had a daughter. It made sense, I supposed. Carlisle had told me before that when you became a vampire, you had to leave your human life behind you. It seemed cruel, though, to just abandon your child. I hoped that she had not ended up in foster care, at least. I knew how awful that was.

I leaned back against Jacob, thinking about what he had said. "That sounds really nice. I used to wish for a home like that, you know. A bunch of camellias in little vases, set up all around a little cabin in the woods. Doesn't that sound-"

I shrieked as I was thrown off of Jacob halfway through my sentence. His hand reached out to grasp my upper arm before I could land face first in a patch of dirt. He spun me around, and I stared at him, shocked. Of course, I knew that he hadn't intended to push me so roughly. That had been caused by him jumping to his feet so abruptly as I leaned on him. But what in the world had made him react so violently? I looked around the field as my heart pounded, expecting to see a bear or cougar. Surely Jacob could take on either of those animals, right? He was a giant wolf!

But I didn't see anything else in the clearing with us. No humans, no animals, no vampires. I looked up at Jacob, expecting an explanation.

"I didn't say that, Renesmee."  I blinked, trying to make sense of his words. "Y-you didn't say...what?" I asked slowly, hoping I would be able to figure out what he meant by the time the sentence passed my lips. It didn't work. Jacob didn't back down. "I didn't say that, Renesmee. I never said anything about a little cabin in the woods. I was only talking about camellias in Bella and Edward's old home. You came up with the cabin all on your own."

Though I still didn't understand what he was talking about, Jacob looked incredibly victorious. The sparkle in his eyes seemed to be caused by excitement rather than by the sun, and he was grinning like he had just won a gold medal. Despite my confusion, I found myself smiling with him, laughing at his animated reaction to whatever was going through his head.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Jake. I don't know anything about Bella and Edward's cabin in the woods. I was talking about how I wanted one." Still grinning, he started nodding frantically. "With honeysuckle on the outside walls and a stone path leading up to the door?" I looked up at him, surprised. Was I really that unoriginal? Could he really guess at what my childhood dream house looked like?

With a loud laugh, Jacob yelled out, "I knew it!" He pumped a fist into the air and pulled me into a hug. "Aw, Ness, this is great!" I snickered as I pushed him away. "Yeah, sure Jake. Whatever you say." I could tell that Jacob was far too hyper now to go back to lying in the flowers. I turned and started sprinting towards the river, knowing that Jacob would follow. What I hadn't expected was how quickly he would catch up to me. I decided that Jacob's speed could match that of a vampire's as he came up behind me less than two seconds after I started running.
