Bella had an expression of horror but I kept my face blank. I had lived through so much that stories didn't affect me. It wasn't happening now, I had obviously survived, so what was the problem? I waited several moments, but finally got a little too self conscious of Bella staring at my scars. "So, why did you come up here?" I asked as nonchalantly as I could.

Bella kept her eyes on my leg, her voice distracted. " Esme wanted me to tell you to come down and eat." I nodded and walked towards the door. I pulled it open and practically ran down the hall, eager to get away from Bella's prying eyes. Unfortunately, when I reached the top of the stairs I was met with eight more pairs of prying eyes. Carlisle, Esme, Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, Jasper, and Jacob's

Esme was the first to speak. "Food is ready if you're hungry, Renesmee." When I didn't move, she added on, "since you missed breakfast I made an extra big lunch. I wasn't sure what you like so I made a bit of everything. We have sandwiches, soup, pizza..." Esme trailed off and looked at me expectantly. I nodded, knowing that I needed to reply, but not sure how. Bella was suddenly behind me, with a hand on my shoulder. "Come on, you should eat." I met Bella's eyes, and once again noted that they were identical to my own. I wanted to ask her if she had ever been bullied for her 'cat eyes' but was far too awkward to know how to bring it up without sounding rude. Instead, I let Bella guide me down the stairs and into the kitchen.

As soon as I walked into the kitchen I froze. Well, this was unexpected... And slightly terrifying.

I looked around at the men in front of me with wide eyes. They occupied all of the seats at the table and even then two of them were left standing. I slowly take a step back as they stared at me. Then, one of the younger ones jumped up. Younger meaning that he looks more childish... Not meaning that he was below 6 feet tall, because none of them were. He ran towards me with an arm out. I had seen this so many times before. He was going to hit me.

I spun around, ready to run, but he caught my arm and pulled me off of my feet. I let out a shriek and tensed, trying to prepare myself to be thrown across the room. Evidently, he decided to suffocate me instead, because suddenly he was crushing me against his chest. "Nessie!" he shouted. I winced at the use of the nickname which was constantly used to taunt me. Then I winced again, in pain, but kept quiet. I had learned from past experience that if you're quiet when people hurt you, they tend to stop faster.

"Seth. Seth, dude, get off of her." I turned and saw another boy standing next to us, a girl around my age at his side. The boy, Seth, let go of me right as I tried to lunge away. This cause me to Stumble. As I began to fall to the ground the girl grabbed my arm and pulled me up, allowing me to steady myself. I muttered a thanks and pulled my arm back quickly. As I looked up I noticed that all of the boys... Or rather Men, in the room were now standing, one of them leaning against the door frame, blocking it completely. I stepped back and hit the counter. I shrunk in to myself, feeling trapped.

"Renesmee." I looked up at the gentle voice. Edward was walking towards me slowly, his hands slightly extended as if to prove that he was peaceful. I stood still and watched him, feeling like a deer trapped in headlights. Edward came and stood beside me, putting his hand on my shoulder. I flinched, both because he was touching me and his hand was freezing. He pulled me closer to him and I stood absolutely still, not leaning into him, but not pulling away either. I realized that I trusted Edward... At least more than I trusted the strange men in the house. He looked down at me with pride, as if this was some sort of an accomplishment.

"Renesmee, these are some family friends." Edward told me. I thought jacob was a family friend. How many family friends did these people have? Edward went through and began listing name after name. "This is Sam, Embry, Paul, Seth, Jared... Sam's wife is in the car getting something.." I stopped listening to the names, knowing that I would never remember all of them. Even if I did, there was no way to tell these boys apart. Their skin color was exactly the same, they had the same eye color, the same haircut, they were about the same height, they were all wearing cut-off jean shorts and a tank top, and they all had the same tattoo on their upper arm.
