"Is this a work event or a gala?" I whispered to Tae who chuckled deeply and tightened his grip on my arm. We had to pass through two sets of very intense looking bodyguards, who patted us down rather extensively.

"You'd be surprised at the number of people who bring weapons to stuff like this. Trust me, the guards are a good thing. Even if they are a bit handsy," he said and my head whipped over to him.

"Weapons? To a work event?"

Just what did I get myself into by accepting this job?

Tae glanced at me, his eyes having to drop only an inch or two due to the heels I was in. "Have we mentioned that people here really don't like us?"

He led me through a set of big, cream double doors that opened up to a ballroom floor full of people talking and laughing. But it didn't last long.

It was almost like there was a huge neon sign hanging above us that said "we're here" because at once, the talking stopped and everyone turned to look at us.

My knees wobbled and had it not been for Tae holding me up, I would've tripped. What the hell was happening? This felt like a horror movie but I didn't know if we were the victims or the murderers.

With the looks the man next to me was getting, I'd put my money on stone cold killers.

Oh great, now I was getting the looks too.

Despite the aggressive turn of events, I couldn't help but notice the dj booth on the opposite side of the wall. "Is...will there be dancing?" I whispered.

"Not unless you want to. Why? Can you dance, Princess?" I shivered at his tone, hating myself for liking how much it deepened every time he used the nickname.

"Yeah, actually. I danced until I was eighteen." I looked up to see his eyes swimming with interest from my confession. His lips tilted in a smirk and he leaned closer so they brushed against my ear.

"Don't tell Hobi Hyung that. He'll drag you out on that dance floor faster than you can blink," I refrained from shuddering and simply nodded, though my lips did crack a small smile.

"Noted. I don't really think these shoes are good for that anyway," I talked as I looked around. There were a lot of people here. Some were standing, some were sitting at tables, but they all looked to be grouped together and separated from each other for the most part.

"That won't matter to h-"

Tae's sentence broke off and I glanced over but frowned when his eyes suddenly turned cold and his face hardened into a scowl. He was looking past me and I reached my hand up, placing it on his other arm.

Before I could ask him what was wrong, something landed on my shoulder and I jumped in surprise. I looked down to see a hand, but when I turned and followed the arm up to an unfamiliar face, I immediately took a step back out of the stranger's reach.
