🥀✨🥀✨🥀
It was the slowest of all weeks, even with my day off in the middle of it. There was never a moment I wasn't overcome with thoughts and stress from recent events. My sleep schedule was off... Again, and it had nothing to do with the plaguing nightmares that once addled my mind every night.
No... I was worried.
And while I tried-I really, really tried not to assume anything-It was easy to let my mind wander and create some insane, melodramatic scenarios that were more outrageous than the last.
Like their big lie was that they were really a group of serial killers, and my initial fear of becoming their next assistant victim had finally come true. Or maybe they were very respected, powerful gang members, and I was the ditzy, naïve hostage in the middle of it all. What if they were aliens sent to gather women and take them back to their home planet after they gained their trust?
See what I mean? Outrageous. Ugh... I needed a xanax.
Even work couldn't keep me distracted enough to stop my imagination from leaving Earth, but as I was laying in bed Sunday night, a brilliant idea hit me, and I knew just the task that would do it.
Laundry.
At one time, I would've sold my soul if it meant I never had to do laundry again, even before my wardrobe upgrade. But as I danced around my room, headphones in my ears, and Ateez's music flowing through my body without a single alien thought in my mind, it was quickly becoming my new favorite chore. In fact, I was so immersed; I didn't see Jungkook leaning against the doorframe until it was too late.
A shriek left my lips as I jumped about two feet in the air. One of my hands slammed into my chest while the other gripped my bed for dear life as I steadied myself. I shot a glare at him, and his lips twitched in a smirk while his shoulders shook softly with laughter. With a sharp exhale, I took my headphones out.
"Have you ever heard of knocking?" I wasn't actually angry-that was just, unfortunately, my flight or fight reaction to jump scares.
"Have you ever heard of turning your music down so you can hear when I knock... And say your name... Twice?"
... Oh.
I pursed my lips, but when his smirk turned into an amused grin, I couldn't help but mirror his face with a chuckle. I pushed aside the clothes on my bed and sat down.
"All right, all right. Lesson learned," I said, crossing my legs. "What's up, Kookie?" I loved the way his eyes flared with heat when I called him that. It was like my own personal redemption for all the toe-curling nicknames they gave me.
If I had an evil laugh, I would've done it then.
His gaze fell to my cluttered bed. "Aren't weekends for relaxing?"
