"Hey, Pup. How was your pedicure?" I grinned as I stepped into the large, quiet kitchen. My eyes found Jimin easily. He was sitting at the island with his laptop in front of him. He was in sweats and a white t-shirt, and his wet hair told me he just recently showered.
He was the perfect picture.
His smile widened as I continued to stare at him and I cleared my throat while setting my purse on the counter before I walked around to his side. He swiveled on the stool so we were facing each other and his cologne fell over me like a warm, delicious-smelling blanket.
"Great. Very relaxing," I said as he glanced down. He hummed and nodded in approval.
"I like the purple on you." I started to reply, but stopped when he reached for one of my hands, interlacing our fingers together. The many rings on his brushed against my skin, creating goosebumps on my arms from the temperature difference. That's what I told myself, at least. I smiled softly as I stared at the perfect way our hands fit together.
Maybe I should've pulled away. I had been demanding to be treated and seen as an employee by them for a while, so it was only fair that I kept enforcing that rule. But something changed last night, and not just with Jungkook after his cryptic confession and dramatic exit. His words seemed to have an effect on all of us, myself included.
After he left, it took everything to not run after him and ask what exactly not being confused meant. But I didn't need to hear him say it. His eyes told me everything I needed to know. He wanted... Us, but it was up to me to take that first step. I had to choose to be with them.
That thought alone kept me up most of the night. My mind was busy making a pros and cons list as I stared up at the ceiling, occasionally glancing at the clock, only to see a few minutes had gone by. In the end, after hours of thinking and only coming up with one slightly conflicting factor, the thing I kept coming back to was Jisoo's words from lunch the other day.
"Think about what I said earlier. About fighting this too hard. You deserve every happy day that comes to you without it being clouded over with guilt or confusion. They may have given you the best job out there, but what if they could give you so much more than that?"
I fell asleep replaying those words and woke up hearing them again. While I listened to Jisoo tell me about her own work drama during our pedicures, I smiled and laughed, but on the inside, I was making my final decision.
"Hey." I felt a gentle hand on my cheek and blinked a few times, focusing on the man in front of me. Jimin's eyes held concern as his thumb stroked my skin softly. "You okay?" he asked. I waited for a beat, then nodded.
"Perfectly fine," I said quietly, while a secret smile was shared between us. I cleared my throat and straightened a little as I played with one of the rings on his index finger. "Sorry, did you say something before?" I winced when I realized I had zoned out for a few minutes, but he didn't look upset.
