"Seriously though, how much weight have you lost from sweating alone? I read that it's like, over a hundred degrees there all the time."
I chuckled under my breath as I pulled the straps of my swimsuit over my shoulders. We landed in Africa a couple of days ago, and so far, everyone had taken that time to catch up on sleep since jet lag hit us pretty hard.
Nothing quite like flying thousands of feet in the air for an entire day. My legs were like jelly by the time I got to use them on solid ground again.
Walking through an airport like a newborn deer is suuuuuper hot, by the way.
On the bright side, I woke up this afternoon feeling a little more refreshed than the day before, and after checking my phone and seeing a text from Tae letting me know the itinerary started tomorrow, I decided to make use of the beautiful pool outside of the hotel we were staying in.
"It's hotter than hell here," I said as I threw my brown waves into a messy bun. My bangs slipped out of the band and fell over my eyes. I pushed them back with a harumph but didn't attempt the bun again.
Not worth the struggle.
"I took one step off of the plane and felt all of the water leave my body." Jisoo's laugh echoed through the bathroom, bouncing off of the walls from the speaker on my phone. I smiled from the sound.
I had called her the night of our argument to apologize but was stopped when she ended up apologizing first. Apparently, we were both feeling rather insensitive and guilty about how we left things.
She told me she understood why I needed to keep my distance from them, and I confessed that it was easier said than done. Though I cringed in fear of judgment the whole time, I told her about what happened with Jin.
She could barely contain the eyebrow waggle in her voice and I eventually gave in and told her how hot it was. Who knew that kind of kink was hidden somewhere deep inside me?
I sure as hell didn't.
And while the subject of them may have been touchy, I wasn't naive enough to think that Jisoo didn't have a point. If anything, the flight here alone was enough proof that feelings, specifically unprofessional ones, were starting to weigh heavily on my shoulders.
I couldn't recall a time the entire flight that I wasn't doted on. Whether it be the switching out of flat pillows to new, fluffy ones. Refills on my drinks without me ever having to lift a finger. Several shoulders to accidentally nap on. They wouldn't even let me carry my own bags. They took turns sandwiching me between them like some sort of assembly line.
Jungkook and I spent hours playing video games on a fancy contraption he brought on the plane. Seeing his smile and hearing him laugh every time I messed up brought butterflies to my stomach. When he would lean over to point out something, or place his hands on top of mine to show me how it was done, my body heated to a point of almost boiling.
