"What is that? Like your fourth cup of coffee?"
I scowled at San who stared down at me with nothing but amusement. "I was up late last night," I said as I rubbed my temples. I woke up with a headache and it had nothing to do with the alcohol we had at dinner.
"Sorry to drop this bomb on you, but eleven o'clock is not late." He chuckled when I cut him a glare. I took another sip of coffee and sighed in relief. Sweet, caffeinated relief.
"I didn't go to bed until two something. I ended up talking to Jin." This seemed to kill any teases he had on the tip of his tongue. His eyes widened and he leaned down.
"You were talking with Hyung?" I smiled at the anticipation in his eyes and nodded. Man, these guys really liked Jin, didn't they? Eh, who could blame them?
"Yes. He told me to tell you guys that he misses you all." He didn't say that, but seeing the way San's mouth formed into a heartstopping smile, I didn't regret the white lie. If it even was one. It was obvious Jin held a spot for the group in his heart. He probably did miss them, but just didn't get the chance to say it.
"San!" Both San and I looked toward the voice, finding Jungkook to be the source of it. He was a few feet away, staring with narrowed eyes. I raised a brow in confusion when he pointed to the rest of Ateez.
"You should be with your group." His tone was less than pleasant but his eyes weren't straying from my new friend. San, either not picking up on Jungkook's mood, or just not caring, nodded and smiled at me.
"I'm going to go tell the others." He ran off at the speed of light, dust, and sand kicking up behind his feet. I heard a makeup artist yell in his direction about slowing down, but of course, he didn't listen. I glanced back at Jungkook but he was talking to one of the tour guides we hired to help us travel through the terrain. He had been acting weird all morning. When I met them in the lobby, he didn't say a single word to me. I didn't know what I was expecting but after his lack of response last night, I wasn't too surprised by this.
Both Hobi and Tae made sure I was alright since I hadn't seen them since we got off the plane, but they didn't obsess over what happened the day before, much to my relief. I just wanted to be done with it at this point, knowing that dwelling on it wouldn't do anything for me.
When we were leaving, Tae offered to drive and Jungkook didn't hesitate to jump in the front seat, putting me between Hobi and Jimin. I didn't mind my spot but winced at how obvious he was being. Whether the others knew what happened between us or not, it was clear the issues he was having this morning were because of me. Did he regret what happened? That was the only thing I could think of for this sudden behavior change.
I didn't know for sure, but I definitely wasn't about to ask.
Instead, I sat in semi-uncomfortable silence for an hour until we finally arrived at the place where we were filming today. My eyes bugged out of my head at the stunning sight before us. Mountains and mountains of sand surrounded us, making it feel like we were in the middle of a golden sea. Sunrays bounced off of the small grains, making the ground glitter and shine.
