I gulped and waited for him to start laughing or blurt that he was just kidding. But he didn't. His eyes stared into mine the entire time, and while I could see how much he regretted what happened earlier, there was nothing but sincerity regarding his words.
"O-okay," I whispered, my breath hitching through the word, making me stutter. As we sat there, thoughts assaulted my brain in rapid succession.
I should definitely step away and make clear boundaries. Not just with Tae but with all of them. This isn't a boss-employee dynamic. So why am I sitting here letting this happen? Why am I risking my job for this?
I squeezed my eyes shut when I felt Tae's grip tighten around my jaw. The warmth from his palm radiated onto my skin and I sighed softly.
Because it feels too damn good.
When his hand loosened and fell to his lap, I leaned away. Our eyes met and a small, boxy smile formed on his face. I couldn't help but smile back at the sight.
"Thank you for finding me and forgiving me. I am still so sorry I did that to you, though." He wasn't back to the Tae I had originally met, but I could see he felt a little better about the situation.
"You're welcome. And it's okay, I promise."
With a grunt, he stood up and reached down. I placed my hand in his and let him pull me up before I brushed my legs and butt off. "Ready to go get some answers?"
I smiled but nodded as we made our way to the rest of my bosses. I was thankful to have a guide this time since I couldn't be trusted on my own quite yet.
My eyes took in the area as we entered the living room. I counted six men, all of whom were either laying down or reclining against the huge sectional.
"I was starting to think we'd have to come find you," Jimin said and I put on my best offended face while my hand covered my chest.
"Find me? I have this place down like a pro." He cocked an eyebrow while an amused smirk tilted his lips.
"Oh yeah? A pro, huh?'
I stuck my chin up in confidence and pointed to a random doorway. "See that?" They all turned to look in the direction. "That's a bathroom." I pointed to another doorway. "And that one? That's the kitchen."
My eyes scanned the area until I found another entryway. "And that one leads to the gym." They all stared at me until they erupted into chuckles.
"That was all wrong, but A for effort," Tae said through soft giggles. I smiled and shrugged. I knew it was wrong, but I felt like everyone needed a laugh after earlier.
So what better way than to make a fool of myself?
Jungkook patted the spot on the couch next to him and I stepped over before plopping down, instantly sinking into the cushion. I closed my eyes and groaned softly.
