A/N: Long chapter!

You and Sidney move out into the hallway. Derek approaches and throws his arms around Sidney protectively. The sun shone luminously, shining daggers of light across the building. "How are you? You weren't in class, nor were you, Y/N. I called as soon as I heard.."

"I skipped. Too many "that's her" looks. I'm not sure about Y/N, though," Sidney said. They both glance at you.

"I s-skipped," you gulped.

Derek looks back at Sidney. "I'm sorry, baby. What can I do?"

"Don't ask what you can do. No coddling. Life rolls on status quo."

Derek looks at her with bedroom eyes and you look at him knowingly. "I can do that. And I can also do this."

He moves on her, wrapping her in his arms and kissing her passionately. You give them a smirk and you gag jokingly. But, unwanted memories filled your head. The memory of you and Billy upstairs in Stu's parents house, talking softly and kissing firmly. You remember that you laid on the bed, Billy on top of you. The smirk washed away from your face and you looked down at the ground.

After he and Stu disappeared, your heart shattered into tiny uncountable pieces. Sadness swallowed you, erasing every happy memory.

Sidney breaks away, laughing. "No PDA."

But, it's a failed objection. He kisses her again and they're soon devouring each other, right in the middle of the hallway. "Get a room, you too!" you say. They both blatantly ignore you. You clear your throat. "Ehem. We just so happen to be in the middle of a hallway. D'you think you could... y'know... do this somewhere else?"

The place is a circus. The front steps of the student centre have been roped off to form a platform. A podium and microphone have been placed in the centre. Crowds have gathered for the press conference that is being held by the university. Reporters and cameras have been roped off to the side. On stage, Dean Fisher, a sharp looking woman in her forties is talking to spectators.

".... and we feel this unfortunate isolated tragedy in no way reflects upon our fine school and we should trust that authorities and FBI are acting quickly to bring us answers." Beside her stand uniformed cops, the local sheriff, and FBI agents. She continues on.

You and Gale walk through the crowd, listening to Dean. Suddenly, a voice comes from behind you. "Gale, can I have a second?"

You and Gale spin around to find Debbie Salt, the flashy reporter who Gale decked earlier, standing in front of you both. "Look, I'm sorry about the face," Gale apologises.

"Job hazard. Debbie Salt, stringer - NEWSWEEK. Answer a few questions?"

You stared at her carefully. She looked oddly familiar. She had ginger hair and a smile that you had seen before but you couldn't think where. "Don't be so demanding. She doesn't have to answer anything," you defended. Debbie and Gale ignore you.

"Fair enough," Gale said.

"What are you doing here? I thought you had retired from field reporting?" Debbie has immediately put Gale on the defensive. The other reporters have noticed and cameras are on Gale and you.

"Well, you know I'm dear to the subject matter."

"And much richer as a result," Debbie said. You rolled your eyes and glared daggers at her but she didn't notice.

"Do I know you? You look familiar."

Debbie hesitates for a second. "I took your vulture seminar a Berkeley last year."
