So This is Mystic Falls

A sharp exhale escaped Lexi's mouth as she placed down the last of her belongings in her new room. She glanced around the bare room which only contained a queen sized bed, a wardrobe and her suitcases. "Sorry this is the best I could do on such short notice" Ric stated awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head.

"It's okay, Ric." Lexi said as she turned around to face the man standing in her doorway, "This is significantly better than what I've had to live in before and based on how little time you had, this is really amazing. Thank you, really. Most people wouldn't have let me stay with them but you did and for that I'm extremely grateful". Ric smiled at the girl's comment.

"I'll give you some time to settle in but if you need anything just let me know." Alaric said. Lexi smiled lightly at that, nodding her head to demonstrate her understanding. Just as Ric began to walk away he came back and said: "And by the way if you're up for it, my uh- girlfriend is hosting a barbeque today and I know she has a niece around your age and some of her friends will be there if you want to meet some people your own age here".

Lexi chuckled lightly at Ric's explanation for his relationship with Jenna who he had told her about on the drive to Mystic Falls. "Yeah sure, Ric it sounds like fun just let me know when you want to leave" she said.

"Great" he said before giving her an awkward thumbs up and backing away from the door way slowly.

Lexi then turned her back to him, her eyes scanning over the room again in an attempt to find something interesting that hadn't been there when she had checked a few moments before.

Nothing

She then decided to use the next few hours to unpack her belongings and to get ready for this barbeque.

"So Elena's the brunette, Caroline the blonde and Bonnie is the only one who I will be able to tolerate the presence of for an elongated period of time" Lexi summarised after having her Alaric's debrief of the girls who would be there.

"Pretty much" Ric said as he pulled up out the front of the Gilbert residence. "This is it" he announced gesturing to the house in front of them. "And by the way, if you meet a guy named Damon feel free to run the other way".

Lexi chuckled lightly at that, did Ric really think she couldn't take care of herself? She was an all powerful witch after all, not that he knew that.

Lexi and Ric then walked up to the door where Ric then knocked on the dark wood. The two were then greeted with a woman who appeared to be in her late 20's with light brown hair. Lexi furrowed her eyebrows lightly and tilted her head concluding that the girl must be Elena despite the fact she didn't quite fit the image Lexi was expecting.

"Jenna, hey" Ric said quickly his eyes landing on the woman in front of him. Lexi tilted her head downwards slightly to hide the grin which was threatening appearing on her face as a result of Ric's nervousness.

"Uh hey, Ric. Who is this?" Jenna said as she glanced to the girl standing next to Elena. The girl appeared to be around Elena's age but Jenna didn't recognise her as one of Elena's friends.

"This is my niece, Lexi. She is currently living with me". Lexi payed close attention to Ric's wording, the last thing she wanted was to intrude on his life.

"Oh of course" said Jenna, "Please come in, it's so nice to finally meet you." Lexi smiled at the woman's words. It was still new to Lexi to see a woman demonstrate such warmth to her.

Lexi instantly grew a liking towards the woman and knew that she was going to be good friends with Jenna.
