What Does That Mean?

"Shall we continue this discussion in the living room? It would appear there are quite a few matters we must speak on" Elijah's says.

"I believe we should" Finn says affirming his brothers idea.

What would the Mikaelsons need to discuss with me? Do they want me to kill Esther? No, they don't even know I'm a witch. Rebekah may have her suspicions buy they don't know for a fact.

After an awkwardly silent walk to the living room we sat down on two of the lounges. Finn and Rebekah on either side of me.

I there noticed some weird eye communication that Kol and Rebekah seemed to be doing.

This family definitely communicates in code.

After awkwardly shifting my feet around in my shoes, I break the awkward silence by asking, "Okay, why am I here?"

We fall into another silence each of the siblings exchanging glances with one another. I roll my eyes and question mentally what is so bad they can't just tell me?

Elijah is the first to speak, "As you know we are the original vampire, the first vampires, created by our mother to live an immortal life."

"Of course she knows that." Kol starts but is quickly shut down by a slap delivered by Niklaus to the underside of his head. 

"Children" Elijah scolds. "After our mother made us what we are and saw the what we did, she regretted it. Instead of reversing the spell, she merely created a new one to bring us a sense of humanity. A mate, soulmate, if you will. Someone who would be our other half, complete us. Someone who we would love unconditionally no matter what. They would be each of our humanities, or so we thought."

'Or so we thought'? Does that mean they share a mate?

I try not to let my realisation phase me since it hasn't been proven yet.

"We would find this person at some point during our eternity as something to look forward to." Elijah continues, "Recently, we have discovered that we all share a mate, my siblings and I."

AH SHIT ITS TOTALLY ME

I try to slow my raised heart beat by fiddling with a rip in my jeans to distract myself. Using my peripheral vision I notice all of the siblings watching to see my reaction.

"The one who we are mated to is you, Lexi" Elijah finishes. All of the siblings then get visibly nervous. I broke eye contact with all of them after my realisation so I was currently focussed on a patch of carpet.

What the actual fuck

A thousand thoughts race through mind the positives but mostly negatives.

Super hot mates
Probably going to get dissed by my ancestors
A thousand enemies
Probably going to have to become a vampire
1000 years each in sex experience (I knew there was a reason Sage waited for him)
My dad would be disappointed
What would Damon think?

As I let the thoughts overwhelm me I leant against the back of the lounge and pulled my knees into chest.

After taking a moment to absorb the thoughts I contemplated standing up and out right rejecting them. Elijah words replayed in my head, they had been waiting a thousand years for me. What the actual fuck was I supposed to do? It is times like these when painting comes in handy. After noticing that they were all still staring at me and expecting a response I shifted in my seat uncomfortably.

I knew what I needed to do.

"If accepted 'this', what would that mean?" I asked not lifting my eyes from my knees. Each of the siblings shifted with what seemed to be hope.

"It would mean that we would move forward at whatever pace you are comfortable with to work through the stages of the mate bond." Elijah said clearly trying hide the smile that had developed on his face.

"What are the stages of the mate bond?" I ask finally lifting my eyes to meet Elijah's.

"There are five stages of the mate bond the first being the discovery, when you first meet. Then the acceptance, when you accept the bond. The third stage is the activation, when you share blood with each other. The fourth is the soul mark which will appear after the activation. The final stage is the completion, when you would be marked." Elijah said, answering my question.

"Marked?"

Elijah shifts slightly. "Uh yes, when you are intimate with one of us-"

"He means sex." Kol explains earning a glare from his siblings.

"Yeah I picked up on that." I said returning my attention back to Elijah.

"And then we would uh bite you. This bite is different as even if you were to have vampire blood it wouldn't heal the bite would leave a scar. It is a permeant mark on you, to represent your relationship with each of us." Elijah says pausing throughout giving me time to process.

"And if I didn't accept 'this', what would that mean?" I said knowing that it was what I needed to say. I heard each of the siblings growl except Elijah who glared at them despite the rejected feeling he was experiencing.

"It could mean a few things" Elijah started clearly uncomfortable by my question, "Mainly being that you could continue on with you life almost as you live it now."

"Almost?" I question.

"You will start to notice something missing in your life. A desire for more than you can get with any human achievement" Elijah says.

"You will also have to deal with having 4 original vampires and the original hybrid stalking your entire life and most likely trying to change your mind, forever, seeing as we won't let you die" Klaus adds, trying to persuade me.

My eyes scan the room meeting each one of my mates nervous gazes before returning to my knees. The list of pros and cons respawns in my mind. Stupid witch ancestors.

I lick my lips nervously before deciding. "Okay" I say before standing up.

"Okay as in yes you accept?" Kol asks quickly vamp speeding in front of me as each of my mates stand as well.

"Okay, as in I have heard what you guys have to say and I need time to think now. This is kind of a big decision." I say before pushing past Kol towards the exit

"A decision which has a clear better choice" Rebekah says as Kol grabs my arm lightly to stop me.

"Enough, we will give Lexi whatever time and space she needs." Elijah said before noticing Kol's hand, "Kol" Elijah scolds.

Kol huffs before letting me go. Klaus and Elijah then walk me to the the door. As I am about to leave Elijah stops me and says, "Elskan, when making you decision, please keep in mind our perspective, but also prioritise yourself."

I nodded lightly. Damon wasn't kidding when he said Elijah was the noble one. I then left the Mikaelson Mansion.
