One Word, Three Letters

When I finished my shift it was late so I just went to sleep as soon as I got home. When I woke up the next morning, I texted Rebekah asking if I could come over again this afternoon at the same time. I smiled at my phone when I received a response before I could even close the app.

What are these people doing to me?

Since I had a free morning I worked on some homework before completing some of my art assignments for school. I swear I am spending my entire life in my art studio lately.

After showering, I got changed into some washed out denim shorts, a black crop top and a brown plaid jacket. I then applied some simple makeup, perfume and gold jewellery before putting on some combat boots and leaving. I didn't bother styling my hair since it happened already been straightened from when I had my shift at the grill yesterday.

When I finally arrived at the Mikaelson Mansion I was a few minutes late because of traffic. When I got out of my car I couldn't help but notice the nervous feeling that had begun to form in my stomach. I swallowed my nerves before putting on a fake act of confidence. When I reached their front door, before I could even knock, Kol had already opened the door for me.

"Ah, Darling. I was beginning to think you weren't going to show" Kol said as he opened the door for me.

When I walked inside I heard Klaus say, "Calm down Kol, she wasn't even five minutes late".

"Shut it Nik" Rebekah said, "You weren't any better with you nervous pacing."

At least I'm not the only one who is nervous.

Niklaus scoffed at Rebekah's words. It was then when I noticed an also seemingly nervous Finn who was behind all his siblings. Once we made eye contact I shot him a reassuring smile which he returned quickly. He seemed to gain some confidence after the small gesture.

"Come in, Love" Klaus said extended a hand to me, "I think it's about time we had a chat" I nodded in agreement. I didn't trust that I wasn't going to has a nervous voice crack.

3rd person pov

Once Lexi walked in, Klaus used the hand he had extended to hover over the small of her back and guided her into the living room. He shot each of his siblings a smug look at the close proximity he now has to their mate. Rebekah and Elijah rolled their eyes at his childish antics.

They then went into the living room where Lexi sat down on one of the lounges. After a brief squabble Elijah and Kol sat on either side of her. Once the others sat down, Lexi began to speak.

After taking a deep breath she said, "So after taking a couple of days to think" she paused, not entirely sure where to look.

She decided that it was best to focus on Finn and to glance over everyone else, seeing as he was the only person in the room who seemed more nervous than her.

"And I decided have that I am willing to try the whole shared mate thing" Lexi said. A look of relief flooded each of their faces.

"That's great" Kol said moving closer to her on the lounge earning a glare from each of his siblings and scoff from Rebekah.

"Yes that is fantastic news, Love" Klaus said finally removing his eyes from Kol. Lexi nodded lightly, not sure what to say next.

"I suppose the what we should be asking now is, what's next?" Elijah said, mimicking Kol's movement towards Lexi.

"That's up to you guys, I don't really mind" she said. Kol then moved even closer to her so that we were sitting side by side eager to please his inner animal with close proximity of his mate.

"I guess it is figuring out how we are going to uh-" Finn's proposed having gained confidence from his mate's response.

"Share me?" Lexi said teasingly, finishing Finn's statement.

"Uh yes" Finn says relieved his mate did not take offence to his use of words regarding her.

"Well, what is there that we actually need to talk about?" Rebekah asked.

"Bond activation, dates, living arrangements, Salvatores, sleeping arrangements, vervain, how Lexi is going to quit her job at the grill and seating plans apparently, just to get the list started." Klaus rapid fired bitterly being the only sibling who hasn't been able sit next to his mate.

"What Niklaus is trying to say is that we clearly have a lot to discuss." Elijah summarised. When everyone was distracted by Niklaus' rant he took opportunity to move closer to his mate.

"Okay" Lexi said, "Wait, what do you mean by living arrangements?"

Each of the siblings got visibly uncomfortable at Lexi's question, not willing to have another proposal rejected by their mate.

"Well, love" Klaus started, "Coming from someone who spent three days living in the shoe box of an apartment I can't possibly imagine that you could be happy there." Klaus paused.

"I'm perfectly happy staying with Ric" Lexi replied leaving out the fact Ric had been staying with Elena recently.

"Well and-" Klaus paused trying not to offend his mate with his wording.

"Continue" Lexi urged.

"Seeing as you have accepted us as your mates, it may become difficult, for us, to have so much distance between us." he said gesturing to Kol and Elijah who in the few moments since Lexi's answer had already moved significantly closer. They were both touching her in their own way, Kol who had his arm around her shoulder, Elijah who had taken her hand in his own. "And also due to our current situation with our mother for your safety it is better for um-" Niklaus pauses giving his mate time to process.

what tf is happening?

"What I believe my brother is trying to say is that it may be best for you to move in with us. If that is okay with you, of course." Elijah said, his noble older brotherly nature showing as he began to rub his thumb over his mate's hand which he was holding. His inner animal satisfied by the small gesture.

Just as Lexi was about to respond, her phone notified her that someone had texted her. "One second" Lexi said before using her free hand to reach for her phone and check the message. When Lexi opened the message her heart dropped.

All of the Mikaelsons noticed how quickly her facial expression changed. Kol and Elijah fought the urge to see what the message said. Lexi replied instantly.

Give me 20 minutes

"I have to go" Lexi said as she put her phone back in her pocket whilst standing up, removing her hand from Elijah's in the process.

"I'm afraid that wasn't a part of today's arrangements, Elskan." Elijah said his inner animal wanting to regain contact with his mate. All of the siblings stood up with him after Lexi.

"It's Bonnie, I have to go" Lexi clarified as Elijah tried to block her path from the door. Rebekah's inner animal was hurt at the mention of Bonnie's name, envying how close the girl was to Lexi.

"I'm actually with my brother on this one, Darling." Kol said approaching her from behind.

"Look, my best friend needs me right now. So I have to go." Lexi said, "I will come back, but right now I need to leave."

Elijah moves to stop her from leaving again.

"You have no reason to think that I won't." Lexi said looking up at Elijah pleadingly.

"Fine" Elijah tried to hide the clingy feelings that were overwhelming him. Once Elijah moved out of the way Lexi nodded at him before practically sprinting out of the house to get to Bonnie.
