Two options

"Would you like to be my girlfriend?"

Your whole body blocked, as if it was to protect yourself from the world. Your mind started spinning as your heart started racing.

"...excuse me?" was the only thing you could manage to ask.

That question caught you out of surprise. It was rather shocking.

What the heck did he mean with "would you like to be my girlfriend"? What the heck was that supposed to mean?!

Did Gaster have feelings for you? You just had known and fought each other for five days! It was unsettling.

You couldn't understand.

"I asked if you wanted to be my girlfriend"

"YEAH, I...understood that, but why?"

"Because I want to understand more feelings, if I want to complete my research. I want to know what and how I would feel if you'd be my girlfriend: we're enemies after all, hence it would be an even weirder relationship, and that's what I seek, to comprehend feelings the way I want to do. You'd be the perfect partner for this"

You blinked your eyes repeatedly out of shock.

Comprehend feelings? The way he wants do do?

WHAT THE FUCK?!

"...why would I be the perfect partner for this? I still don't understand, I literally put salt in your coffee and you tampered the faucet in order to wet my clothes, and now this sudden request...shouldn't you find yourself a girl that actually wants to give you some love?" you asked, still confused.

He surprisingly chuckled.

"Hah, about that...I think I'm way too scary for any girl out there. Everyone always looks at me with afraid eyes, and many stay away from me. Plus, as I said, the relationship between us would be even a weirder one as we actually hate each other, and I would even get to experiment more feelings, and it would be even weirder becaus-" he said in the end, but cut himself off.

Luckily, you heard that he was about to say something else before he could change the topic.

He hesitated for a moment, but then sighed and surrendered, telling you what he was about to say.

"It would be even weirder because you're a..."maneater"? As the scientist said? I would like to see how a relationship like this would turn out" he said reluctantly.

Oh, was the only thing you said in your mind.

He...also considers me a maneater? Hah, does he want to experience what it is like to be with a woman who controls everything? But...I'm not a maneater.
I could and should seriously fire that scientist for telling things he doesn't know.

You sighed and rubbed your eyes.

"...have you ever been in a relationship at all, Gaster?"

He looked at you, half-puzzled.

No matter the question he just asked, he didn't look embarassed nor a blushing mess. Did he understand what it means to be in a relationship?

"Uh, no? I've never had a girlfriend at all, I didn't find it necessary, but maybe, if I want to succeed in my research, a girlfriend is what I need. Hey, why are you blushing?" he said.
