Fever
You slowly opened your eyes, finding yourself in your bedroom. You were quite surprised by how peacefully you managed to sleep there, without nightmares or anxiety.
You turned your head, not feeling alone, and saw Gaster looking at you.
"Oh, you're awake" he just said as he encountered your look.
You slowly moved and sat down on the bed, under the sheets, but not daring to look at him, feeling guilty.
Silence ruled between the two of you for a while, both of you clearly embarassed for your own reasons: you were feeling guilty, meanwhile Gaster was tense about being in a girl's bedroom.
"I guess I'll have to stay here for a while then" he added after a while
You nodded, still looking at anything but him, letting silence take over once again. Neither of you dared to say something.
You then sighed, as you felt you had to apologise, and surprisingly, you managed to open your mouth.
"Gaster...I'm sorry"
"Huh? Why are you apologising?"
"I put you in a lot of trouble, yesterday and today as well...I was so obsessed with staying strong and doing my best, even if I was in the worst condition ever. I was thinking that I was showing a weakness of mine by staying at home and resting, even though I couldn't sleep well lately. I'm sorry if you had to carry me here..." you finally said, still feeling sorry and looking away.
In the meantime, he just looked at the floor, not feeling surprised by your words: at least you were acting reasonable after all.
"Heh, so Toriel has managed to clear your mind at least" he said.
As you felt you were being teased, you looked up to the ceiling, not daring once again to look at him. He chuckled at the sight, and returned to look at the floor.
"I guess I should apologise as well: I hope I wasn't too harsh today when I grabbed your shoulders"
The scene flashed again in his mind.
"Why won't you understand that whatever you're doing at night is unhealthy for you?! You go through serious risks if you don't sleep at night, it is bad primarily for your heart, but also for your mood! Hey, don't ignore me now, you are going to listen to me-" he said, but when he grabbed your soft cheeks with his holed hands, he found nothing but grief. Your eyes were wide-open and threatening to spill some tears, but you still tried to keep them in your eyes, trying not to show what you defined as a weakness.
For the first time, Gaster looked incredule and shocked: he just stared at you, his hands still on your cheeks, and he felt paralysed.
"...Y/N?"
"Please, don't look at me" you said with a broken voice, threatening to break even more with cries "Don't look at me. I don't want anybody to see me like this"
He sighed, thinking about how...hurt you looked when you were forcing yourself not to cry.
He suppressed the urge to ask what you were going through, as he wanted to respect your privacy. Then, a sneeze made him return back to reality.
He looked at you, as you were covering your nose and mouth with an embarassed expression, and for the first time after talking, you encountered again his gaze.
"Do you have a cold?" he asked.
"No, I don't, don't worry, if you want you can go home, I can take care of myself and I will surely rest- ACHOO!" you said, sneezing at the end.
