External aid

You opened your eyes in a rush, panting and grasping for air.

The usual nightmare showed up even that night, not giving you a moment of peace.

The sharpness of that blade...the slurry vision...you remembered it all, and it didn't look like it wanted to leave your mind.

You looked around yourself, and recognising that you were in your bedroom, you sighed out of relief and sat on the bed, hugging your knees.

"Will it leave me...? Can I sleep peacefully for once, even after acknowledging that I can finally continue with the time machine thanks to Gaster?"

When you mentioned Gaster's name, the flashbacks of the day before flooded in your mind.

"Wait a second...the last thing I remember was his house. Why am I at my house now? How did I get here?"

You also looked at yourself and noticed that you were still wearing your clothes instead of your pajama. How the heck did you end up like that without remembering?!

Alarmed, you glanced at the clock in your bedroom, which showed 4:00 am. You carefully stepped out of your bed and tip-toed to the doorframe, and glanced outside of it. You listened for any sound coming out of your door, in case someone was outside of your bedroom. You didn't hear nothing though, so you silently stepped out of the room, not turning on the lights, and while getting used to the darkness, you looked around to see if someone was hiding there.

Once you reached the living room though, you saw something on the table in the obscurity. As you reassured yourself that no one was in your home, you turned on the lights and noticed a piece of paper. You picked it up and read its content.

"Y/N, it's me, Gaster. Please get some sleep and remember to take the day off, you were about to fall asleep at my own house, and surely none of us want that, do we? I had to take you to your own home, and you owe me one. We will continue with our research once you are fully rested."

You didn't know what to feel in that moment. Confusion, anger, urge to sleep, fear?

You ripped the piece of paper into more pieces, and suppressed the urge to scream. You felt like you had shown a weakness of yours, and you were afraid that people could take advantage of you like that.

You weren't actually angry with Gaster though, you were rageful with yourself.

"Why do I never learn the lesson?!" you yelled, kicking the chair.

...

Gaster showed up early that morning in the lab, he needed to work for two after all: he entered his office as usual, greeted his subordinates and plunged himself into his documents. Sometimes he would glance at your empty desk and sigh, not even smelling your usual coffee or feeling your presence around.

I wonder if she's sleeping, he thought.

At around 9:00 am though, someone opened the door in a rush.

He looked up, and watched you entering the office with a bewildered look. Why were you there? He clearly told you to stay at home! Why would you not listen to him once?

"Hey, I told you to get some rest!" he said.

You didn't listen to him though, and you just violently sat down on your chair, getting ready to face the working day. You still had your eyebags under your eyes though, still menacing.

Annoyed by how bravely you ignored him, he stood up in a rush and loomed over you.

"Would you please listen to me for once?" he asked, but you still ignored him, going even deeper into a document.
