The only parent for him

Gaster's subordinates were oddly surprised as they saw him, for the next eight months, almost...as if his emo phase never happened (joke sorry I had to insert this).

He didn't look like he was depressed anymore, but it felt like he was feeling better than normal. He was mostly neutral nonetheless.

And he was spending a lot of time in an unknown room for his subordinates, but to respect his privacy, they never dared to enter.

However, that day, at the end of the month, they were choosing the unlucky one to go and knock on his door, to tell him the news.

"Eeny meeny miny moe..." one of them said counting and pointing with their finger, and the Monster chosen, who weirdly had no face, started regretting all of his life choices as they started slowly walking towards the door to Gaster's secret room. They inhaled and knocked on the door with a shaky hand.

Gaster immediately opened the door with an alarmed look.

"What?!" he asked whispering, which surprised his scientists.

"D-doctor...t-the King has requested your presence at the Ruins..." they said mumbling.

Gaster looked at his watch with an exasperated look, glancing over the room and the outside.

"Did he really have to request me at this time...okay, I'll reach him in a while" he said in the end.

He closed the door gently, which surprised again the scientists. The one that knocked on his door turned to face the others, who had the same look as theirs on their face.

"...is he actually the same Gaster we know?"

...

Gaster teleported right in front of the Ruins, where Asgore stayed with Toriel and Asriel for the time being.

He didn't even care about getting tired, he just needed to return to his own room as soon as possible before...

He knocked on the door and immediately after that, the purple doors opened, revealing Toriel with a four years old goat kid in her arms, wearing a green onesie with yellow stripes, napping on his mother's shoulder.

"Howdy there, Gaster! You're just in time for my Butterscotch pie!" she said with a joyous smile.

Gaster smiled a little, hearing such joy from the Queen was truly a blessing. It meant things were going well.

He followed the Queen through a dark, purple corridor and then through some ladders, which conducted to Asgore and Toriel's house.

"Ah, Gaster, there you are!" Asgore said upstairs as your husband took small steps to reach the house.

Even Asgore looked pretty happy: Asriel really had changed their life for good.

"Your Highness..." Gaster said as a 'goodmorning'

"Oh come oon, Gaster, we are friends and suddenly when I become king you use formal tones. No need to!" Asgore said as he patted Gaster's shoulders, making him stiffen a little.

"Alright then. What do you need, Asgore?" Gaster asked in a bit of a hurry.

He was clearly excited for something.

Asgore rubbed the back of his neck as he looked away, not making eye-contact with the skeleton scientist.

"Yeah well, you see...I was thinking that you could...well, work with someone else at your lab?"

Oh god, not again, Gaster thought.

It was not the first time Asgore tried to make him fall in love with a woman.
