Decisions
In the center of the room, there was a time machine.
It had a cilinder shape, created from slightly transparent green glass. It looked like there was enough space for a person to fit in. Underneath, there were a series of buttons, and he presumed they functioned to choose the date to go back or forward in time.
Gaster's eyesockets widened in shock as he observed the machine: something that was rather impossible to create, something that could only exist in one's imagination was standing in front of him, in all of its glory.
"Well? What do you think about it?" you asked.
"Just...how? How were you able to do it?" he asked, shocked and still unable to believe it.
"Heh, it took years for me to create it. Unfortunately, it's still a work in progress, so I can't actually try to travel back in time at the moment. But when it'll be completed, then heck, what a revolution this would be!" you said as you approached the green machine and tapped it.
He looked at you with his mouth wide-open, and as you replied to his look, you felt accomplished.
"See? I told you I had morals and that I respected you. I guess we're even now"
He then switched from looking at the machine to looking at you, as if he only assumed you were there only then.
"I can't believe you were capable of doing such things..." he said as he now looked down, avoiding eye-contact.
"Aww, are you embarassed right now, Doctor?" you said with a little laugh.
"I kinda feel inferior now, I'll admit" he said, still looking down and not replying to your laugh, as you thought he found it annoying.
For the first time after meeting him, you looked at him with a really serious look: inferior? Why would he feel inferior?
"You have done something amazing, something out of the ordinary...and look at me, working on energy and...feelings" he then completed his statement.
You felt something deep in your chest: maybe anger? Were you bothered by his last phrase?
Did he really need to call himself inferior, just because of something apparently big that you had done?
"Hey, would you ever call inferior a research that serves for the well-being of everyone? I wouldn't. Don't compare yourselves to others, it will lead to nothing"
Finally, he looked at you with a surprised gaze, a gaze that was replaced into a more relieved one.
"Heh"
He sat down and looked at you again.
"Just to make things clear, I still see you as my enemy. Don't imagine things" you said half-joking.
It was true, you both got to know each other's secret, but this didn't mean it was the start of a friendship.
Or something more.
Gaster thought the same: as much as he hated the idea, he couldn't get rid of you now, you knew his secret and you weren't who he imagined. He needed to stay near you, as you were a scientist of incredible capabilities. Plus, he was curious in how the time machine would come out.
"Hah, I understand now why the Wizards wanted me to work with you. I couldn't really get a hold of it" he said as he put his holed hands in his pockets.
