A name with a heart

The day after your bookstore date, Gaster returned to work, back to his serious and professional expression. He entered the lab early in the morning, greeted his scientist colleagues quickly and got in his office.

But to their surprise, they noticed something unusual about Gaster that day: even though he was professional, he was whistling. Something he never did before.

But they quickly smiled: if Gaster was whistling, that could only mean that he was relaxed, almost care-free.

Hours passed, and Gaster quickly got immersed into his job. He needed to work for two after all, and this time he was sure that you would not rush into his office to work against your health: he was sure that you learned the lesson for the moment.

Sometimes, he could not help but smile as he thought of you: he was starting to appreciate the teasing, sometimes dominant personality of yours. And now, the memory of him tampering the faucet or you poisoning the coffee made him smirk.

In the middle of the morning he picked up his phone for a little pause and checked his chats: apart from working ones, he didn't really have chats with his few friends; he had Toriel and her boyfriend's number, Asgore, but he still preferred talking to them with his own voice rather than chatting.

But this time, he wanted to chat.

"Are you awake? How are you feeling?" he wrote.

Even though you already told him the day before that you were feeling a lot better, he didn't buy it, even though that was the truth: he indeed gave you some more days, and right now, he wanted to know how you were feeling. Probably a doctor's personality, that always wants to know their patient's health...or not? Did he really want to know how you were feeling not because he was a doctor but because he cared? Only he knew.

He could have also called you, but he was afraid of waking you up, a thing he certainly didn't want to do. The possible outcomes were two if he happened to wake you up: you would either scream at him through your phone or you would have simply answered the phone with a sleepy voice and he would have felt mortified.

He could also not help but sigh with a smile.

"Geez, and to think that I wasn't worrying for anyone but myself before..." he said, even though it was more like a whisper.

Twenty minutes after sending the message, he turned again his phone on, but unfortunately noticed that you still didn't reply yet.

And it was now 12:00 pm.

"At this point she should be awake by now...is she feeling well? Should I call her?"

Gaster was still worrying about this question when someone knocked, catching his attention and bringing him back to reality.

"Come in" he said, as he put his phone in his pocket and stood up, to greet whoever was there.

One of his scientists opened the door: it was the one who looked like a big smile. And behind him, a figure Gaster knew too well.

Asgore.

Gaster blinked his eyes as he saw his friend there: what could his business possibly be in his office? Asgore never came in his office before after all.

"Doctor, Mr. Asgore would like to talk to you. Can he enter?" the scientist said, bringing Gaster back to reality, also because he had completely forgot they were there.
