Murder

Five years before

"C'mon Y/N, are you ready?"

Your bestfriend, Lauren, called you from outside, waiting for you to go to the dance party your university organised. As she was calling you, you were doing your make up, against your will though: you hated attending those stupid parties.

"Yeah yeah, I am almost finished" you said as you put some eyeliner on your eyes, looking at your reflection on the mirror.

"Why are you taking so much time? You know that if you want to find a partner to dance you need to be there early? Quick, before other girls get themselves a boy! I don't want to be left alone" Lauren said, jumping on the spot for the excitement and the hurry.

"Ugh, Lauren, you know how much I hate those parties, and if I need to be there at least I need to be fabulous, don't I?" you said finally ready to go, with much of Lauren's relief.

"You don't need to worry, you are always gorgeous! There are usually a few boys always looking at you, have you seen them? They were literally drowling at you!" she said, picking you by your arm and guiding you to the university, which was luckily just a few steps away from your shared apartment.

"Ugh, you mean those popular boys? They probably only want me for my body and not for who I am. Might as well reject them. Also who are you to talk, many boys look at you as well" you stated with a firm seriousness, making Lauren laugh as you entered the university.

"Well, body or personality, we have arrived at the gym. Now let's find someone to dance with!" she said, already in the party mood.

You couldn't help but let a small smile appear on your lips: Lauren was always in a good mood and wouldn't let anyone or anything ruin it.

She kept pulling you by your arm as she guided you through the crowded room, sharing some glances with a few boys and playing with her golden snowflake-shaped necklace.

Is she simply glancing or is she flirting with her looks? you thought, asking yourself as you raised an eye-brow.

Almost like as an answer to your question, two boys reached the two of you, mostly looking at Lauren. As for her, she now held your hand, as if she prepared herself emotionally to be asked for a dance.

"Hi there" one of the boys said with a smirk.

"Well hello there" Lauren replied, waving her free hand with a flirty tone "are you perhaps free for a dance? Me and my bestfriend are feeling sooo lonely and we just arrived! We can't find no one to dance with! Isn't that so sad?" she stated, acting a little bit dramatically with a little laugh in the end.

WE are feeling lonely? Pfsh, Lauren, talk for yourself, you said in your mind

"Well, we just arrived as well, and actually, we were just hoping that we could dance with the two of you: we must say, you two are looking really gorgeous" the first boy said.

For some reason though, they glanced from Lauren to you, and even though it was for a short time, they both glanced at you more than Lauren.

You noticed their gaze, and replied with a death glare, which didn't really scare them off: actually, they looked more entertained.
