To everything he fought for, goodbye

Gaster had decided to fully concentrate into time and space problems, especially after Sans told him that he saw a figure that resembled your ghost figure.

He didn't even know if you were still really alive somewhere else, but he wanted to have hope. He theorised at least that you were in a place that no one could reach, a place he called void.

He would eventually spend more and more time in his lab, trying to find a way to rebuild your time machine and to fix its errors, the errors that you weren't able to find and that led you to your "death". He actually rebuilt it, but this time compared to yours it was smaller, a machine that could be easily hidden behind a shower curtain. And he often had to bring Sans with him, so that he couldn't be left alone in their house.

And in the meantime, Papyrus was born. Papyrus, a lively kid that loved the orange colour and that loved watching his father cook for all of them, especially spaghetti.

Sans immediately loved his brother. He would always ask Gaster if he could hold him, and obviously, if he was careful enough he could hold him. He could hold him for eternity if he wanted to.

And he always had fun annoying the little baby with puns.

Time passed, and winter arrived: Papyrus still couldn't walk or talk properly, but he was sure a lot livelier than his brother when he once was his age.

Gaster was peacefully sleeping on his bed when two children sneeked from the doorframe and silently tip-toed to their father's bed, as if they were two spies.

Sans looked at Papyrus' eyes, which were studying his older brother with curiosity, causing Sans to giggle silently and count to three before he could awaken their father.

"1...

2...

3...

WAKE UP DAAAD"

And in fact, Gaster flinched and woke up, obviously not without being startled.

"UWAA" Papyrus yelled as he stretched his little arms up, trying to copy what his older brother just did.

Gaster made a poker face as he was giving his sons his back, causing them to question whether they actually managed to wake him up.

"Uh-oh...WAIT DAD-" Sans said, but it was too late. Gaster had turned his back to meet their face in a blink of an eye, grabbed them and pulled them into a hug on the bed.

"Ughhh daaad" Sans complained, even though he didn't look like he minded it at all.

As for Papyrus, well, he just kept laughing, and his little laugh was too contagious for Gaster and Sans, making them laugh as well.

"Alright, let's get up" Gaster stated after a while, still chuckling, carrying both kids on his strong arms.

He reached the kitchen and put firstly Sans on his own chair and then Papyrus on his high chair before he could start preparing breakfast for the two kids. He then turned around, reached the stoves and started heating some milk for the little pests sitting behind him.

"Dad, you have to listen to what I dreamt tonight! There was this giant alien evil spaceship in the Underground and I went to protect every monster with a blue cape!" Sans said, describing his dream and waving his arms around.

As Gaster listened to his older son's dream, he couldn't help but smile: Sans surely had a vivid immagination, and those dreams were only sign of a childish innocence.

He totally had a future as a scientist.

As for Papyrus, well, he kept giggling as Sans now sneered to make him laugh.
