[Killua's POV]
"Killua... Who are you?"
I froze.
I looked at y/n in the eyes, itching to let her know the truth. I can't. She won't be able to live with it. She'll leave me, just like everybody else has.
"I'm Killua." I replied with a straight face.
"No, but..."
"We're at the front! Come on." I grabbed her arm and pulled her along. We both grabbed trays and started walking again.
"Killua, tell me the truth!"
"That is the truth!"
"Is not!"
"Is too!" I retorted.
"Is not!"
"What's gotten you two so excited?" I heard Kurapika behind us. We spun around to face him, both of us glaring at the floor.
"I'll tell you some other time." The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them. "Okay?" She lifted her head up to look at me and I gestured with my eyes towards Kurapika. She nodded once and grinned at me.
"Thanks."
Your POV:
Even though I didn't get a straight answer, I would hopefully get one tomorrow. I smiled to myself and leant back in the lunch chair.
"Ne, Y/N and Killua," Gon suddenly said. "Do you want to come get ice cream with us after school? I was about to open my mouth and say no but then I remembered. No one's there anymore to tell me what to do.
"Sure!" I said, grinning. I saw Gon's eyes light up. He looked really, really happy. So did Leorio and Kurapika.
"Well..." Killua began, looking down. "I guess I could come..." I looked at him with a concerned face, but he just smiled at me. That's when I finally got a chance to look at him closely. He had bags under his eyes, and he looked very tired. He was so handsome that you could barely tell, though. It went noticed by me. His hair fell perfectly, framing his face, and he had bright blue eyes that anyone could fall into. Yep, I could definitely see what the other girls were swooning over.
Timeskip: after school
We were all sitting in the ice cream shop down the road, talking and laughing. It was great to be away from school but be able to hang out with my best friends. Killua was digging into his chocolate ice cream, which made me giggle slightly. Gon practically dumped his whole face in his, and everyone was laughing. Suddenly, the white- haired boy's phone rang.
"Sorry, I have to take this." He answered and held the receiver far away from his ear calmly. "Hey mother."
"KILLUAAAA!!!!" We all winced slightly. He put the phone back to his ear.
"Yeah... I know... I don't care... I don't want to, you know that... Okay... I don't care!" He suddenly shouted through the phone.
"Don't you use that language with me!" She shouted again, causing us all to hear. He slammed his phone down in anger. I looked around the room briefly before grabbing Killua's arm and pulling him out the shop, noticing people were giving us funny looks.
"What was that about?" I asked him, putting my hands on my hips and looking at him sternly. He just stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked at the floor, shaking his head.
"I wish I could tell you, y/n. I really with I could."
"Then tell me!" I said, putting my hand on his shoulder. "You should be able to trust me by now."
"It's not about trust!" He retorted. "It's..." He blinked once. "It's..." Without warning, he collapsed onto my shoulder, causing me to blush furiously. Was he... Crying? His teeth were gritted together and his eyes were closed. "I can't tell you..." He said.
"Hey, it's okay." I said, putting one hand behind his back. I never thought Killua, of anyone, would cry like this. He looked so frail, as if anyone could break him. It made me want to cry. I could see faint scars covering almost his entire body, making me frown. Who would do that?
Suddenly he got up from my shoulder, his eyes slightly red and looking slightly embarrassed.
"Okay, I'm fine. Thanks, Y/n." And with that, he turned around and left, putting one hand up to say goodbye. "I'm really sorry. See you." Sorry? For what? Before I knew it, he disappeared. He really does confuse me- one minute he's upset and the next he's fine.
Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I took it out to see it was just my sister. I answered.
"Hi, Chiuki! What's up?" The receiver was silent. I frowned. "You there?"
"It's our dad..." She whispered. "He's been killed."
