Your POV:
Five months.
It had been five months, and they still weren't back.
I was fully expecting it to take a long time to complete the game, but Killua had said three months and I missed him so much. I really didn't know what to do without him. Sure, I had all my friends at school plus Leorio and Kurapika and we did sometimes talk, but it just wasn't the same.
I sighed and flopped down on the bed, groaning in annoyance. Tia snapped her head up in alarm and frowned at me.
"You okay? You've been acting weird lately." I sat up again and looked her dead in the eye, finally realising what I had to do.
"Tia... What would you do if I told you if I was already a Hunter?" Her eyes widened for a fraction of a second before she burst out laughing.
"That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time!" She said between breaths. "Thanks for that!"
"Tia, I'm serious." She stopped laughing as abruptly as she started and looked at me in alarm. I sighed heavily and reached into my pocket, pulling out my hunter licence and offering it to her. She timidly took it and stared at it in shock, her eyes widening.
"A real hunter licence..." She whispered. "An actual one..." I smiled and nodded. She looked at me, her eyes wide. "That's amazing! I'm best friends with an actual living Hunter!" She shouted. I quickly pressed a finger to her lips, gesturing for her to be quiet.
"Yeah. I know, but you have to keep quiet about this. Okay?" She nodded and I took my hand back, both of us sighing simultaneously.
"Hey, does that mean Killua is a Hunter too?" She whispered. My smile suddenly dropped as I remembered his brother.
"Let's just say there were... Complications." I replied awkwardly, scratching the back of my neck. She looked at me weirdly, but then nodded in understanding. "But he's gonna get it this year. Definitely!" I said confidently.
"He's really strong!" She said, sighing dreamily. "And cute. And caring. And-"
"Hey, back off." I said, laughing and giving her a playful shove. She laughed along with me.
"Hey, I was just messing around!" I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Well, the truth is the reason I've been acting weird is Killua said he'd be gone for no more than three months, but it's been five and he still hasn't called. I'm beginning to worry." I shut my eyes and sighed heavily. "It's my birthday in three days too, and I don't know if he knows about it." She shook her head sympathetically at me.
"I'm sure he does know. Just give him time. Besides, you have us!" She said, giving me a quick hug.
"Yeah, you're probably right." I said, a smile creeping onto my lips.
"Now come on! It's the weekend. Let's go and get ice cream or something." I laughed and nodded as we left Tia's house and began walking down the bustling streets of Yorknew City towards the quiet park.
Mini timeskip~
Tia, Jamie, Chris, Nat and I all sat on the grass in the park, chatting about various things. I laughed along with them, and it was the happiest I'd been since my last day with Killua. I keep replaying it over and over again in my head and every time I do so it makes it a bit more magical.
"Y/n? Y/n!" I looked up to see Chris shaking me, inches away from my face. I blushed and scooted back slightly. I scratched the back of my neck sheepishly.
"You okay?" Nat asked, concerned. "You zoned out for a second." I nodded.
"Yeah, I was just thinking about something. Sorry!" They all looked at me weirdly but then nodded and smiled. Chris went back to sit down and I came back into the circle.
"Anyway, Y/n and I should really get going. I have to be back soon." I pouted at her and sighed.
"Oh, come on! Just a couple more minutes?" I begged.
"Well, I guess you can stay if you want but I have to go." I stood up and shook my head, beaming.
"I'll come." We said our goodbyes to our friends and walked out of the park. As soon as we were out, Tia practically exploded on me.
"Did you see the way that Chris was looking at you? He likes you! And then he went really close to you!" I rolled my e/c eyes and giggled.
"Of course he doesn't! What are you talking about?" I replied, frowning.
"It's so obvious, and I have a feeling he's actually trying to make it that way!"
"Tia, you know I have a boyfriend and I wouldn't give him up for any other boy in the world." I replied, frowning and shaking my head.
"I know, but sometimes it's nice to let loose for a while." She said, putting her hands on her hips. "Besides, who knows when he'll be back? You may as well." As we walked home in silence, I thought about what Tia had said to me. Let loose? I could do that. Killua would never know, right?
As soon as we got into the house, I ran up to my room and pulled my phone out, scrolling down my endless list of contacts until finally I found Chris's. Taking a deep breath, I wrote him a short message.
Hey, do you want to meet up later tonight?:)x
My hand hovered over the send button as I hesitated for a second. In the back of my mind, I knew this was wrong. But Killua was the one who left me out here, so who's stopping me? I pressed the send button and exhaled deeply, flopping down onto my bed again. I almost immediately got a reply back.
Yeah, I do. I'll meet you in the park?x
This was wrong. I knew this was wrong. But I couldn't stop myself. He wasn't around, and I missed him like crazy.
Sure. See you tonight.
