I slowly opened my eyes, squinting as I glanced around a completely white room. A hospital, no doubt. I tried to sit up but I felt a searing pain dance down my back, making me immediately lie down again. I stared at the ceiling for a while, trying to remember exactly what had happened. Suddenly I say up, ignoring all the pain I was in.

Gon and Killua.

I jumped out of bed and sprinted to the door, throwing it open and almost slamming it in a nurse's face. Her eyes widened as she saw me up.

"Y/n L/n, yes?" I nodded, confused. "You're awake, and standing? We didn't even think you'd survive!"

"Yeah, yeah." I said impatiently. "Killua Zoldyck and Gon Freecs? Are they here? How long was I out for?"

"Calm down, Ms L/n. You were out for a month."

"What?" I yelled. "A whole month?"

"Yes, Gon Freecs is here in critical condition due to severe loss of life energy, and Killua Zoldyck left around two weeks ago. He didn't clarify why." I gasped in response, shaking my head.

"Where is he?"

"Down that corridor. But you should stay in-" I bolted down as quickly as I could and threw open the door a put the end of the passage. There was a square of curtains with an alarming amount of nen oozing out from around it. To my relief I spotted Knuckle on the side, looking forlorn.

"Knuckle!" I ran over to him, not even bothering to have a look at Gon. It wasn't something I wanted to see. "What happened? Where's Killua?" He sighed and turned to me, his eyes full of sadness.

"Y/n... We all thought you were going to die. Even Killua." I flinched as I heard his name again. "Gon... His life is on the line. He's closer to death than you could ever imagine. Not even a nen exorcist could extract the nen from his body." I nodded.

"Where's Killua?"

"He left. He said something about helping Gon in his own way (AN: if your memory's fuzzy Killua went off to get Alluka)." He turned to me and grinned. "He asked me to look after you if you woke up." I smiled at the thought but it quickly dropped.

"Do you have any idea what happened with Gon?"

"No. You were out cold for the whole thing, I presume, but Killua wouldn't speak a word about it. I think he was a little shaken up, believe it or not." I gulped and looked back towards the curtain. The idea of Killua being alone for so long made me shiver.

"Where could he have gone?" I asked, sighing heavily.

"I don't know." Knuckle murmured. "He said he'd be back, and we're going to have to trust him."

Suddenly, I felt my legs buckle beneath me, causing me to collapse. Knuckle immediately jumped into action, picking me up and carrying me back to my bed.

"Stay there, okay? At least till you're healed. You must have took quite a punch." He said, winking.

"Tell me if anything happens, okay?" I said as he opened the door. He turned briefly and nodded before nodding and spamming the door behind me. I was left in the room again. I sighed and lay down, groaning. This was going to be a long couple weeks. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I felt drowsy. Closing my eyes, I immediately fell asleep.

Timeskip~

I woke up later that day, Rubbing my eyes. My whole body suddenly felt a lot better, so I decided to stand up and go for a walk and try to remember exactly what happened that night. What could Killua have possibly gone to do? How did Gon end up in such a state.

Suddenly, I remembered the brute force Gon gave me as I got punched. And then the blinding light. So Gon had too much nen inside him? It was all clicking back into place now.

But what could Killua do about it? If nen exorcists couldn't help him, how could he? I couldn't think of anyone in his family or who he knew with that kind of power who I knew about either.

I sighed and sat up, bearing with the intense pain in my head. I would just have to trust him. That didn't stop me being worried, though. I would call him, but my guess was he was doing something important. I sighed in annoyance again and took out my phone. I had missed calls from every friend I possibly had. I decided to start off by calling Tia- the one I trusted most.

It had barely buzzed twice before she picked up.

"Y/n!!!" She screeched through the phone. "Are you okay? What happened? Where are you?" I laughed awkwardly and explained the situation to her, from start to finish with no lies. She listened intently.

"And now Killua's missing and I'm stuck at the hospital." I finished my story abruptly. She was clearly very shocked.

"Y/n... I hope everything will turn out alright. I'll let everyone know the situation. I'll just tell them you were very ill, okay?"

"Thank you so much. I owe you one." After some small talk, we ended the call and I was alone wondering the hospital again. I missed Killua so much it hurt, even though I hated to admit it. Hopefully he'd be back soon. And with some answers. I sighed, yet again, in annoyance and looked down at my phone. My hand hovered over Killua's number.

No, Y/n. He'll be back. You know he will.

I went back to my room and retired for the rest of the night. Until he was back, I'd make sure to look after Gon for him, and myself. Slowly, but surely, I drifted off to sleep again.
