CHAPTER 12
╚════════════╝
·ɢᴜɴ·

Ara woke up and the first thing she saw was Taehyung's jawline. She rubs her eyes cutely and looks up, and this time, Taehyung was smiling down at her.

She slowly sat up and looked around, still half asleep. And that's when she realised, she wasn't in the office anymore, she was in the bedroom, or more specifically, KTH's bedroom.

"You're awake?" Taehyung asks with a small chuckle, pinching her cheek gently. She looks down and nods subtly, avoiding eye contact. Taehyung lifts her up by her armpits and hold her in his arms.

"I love holding you like this" He whispers softly, placing a small, dainty little kiss on her cheek. Ara keeps her mouth shut and lets him do whatever he wants as she Doesn't know how to behave.

"But now, it's Time for you to get your answers" He says and sits down on the bed. He hold Ara close to him and holds both her soft, little hands "Why don't you ask me some questions and we take it from there?"

"O-okay..."

She takes a deep breath and asks "D...does you adopting me have anything to do with your job?"

Taehyung chuckles "Of course not, my job was probably the last reason I had. I promise, I genuinely like you, don't ever think I did this for my job"

She felt a bit more warm hearing his words, but it wasn't enough the erase the fear lingering inside her. "I remember you telling me that our families are rivals.... So does that mean I am from a Mafia's family?"

That question really surprised Taehyung, it was probably the last thing he expected her to ask. Taking a deep breath, he nods. "Both our families belong to mafia dynasties"

"The funny thing is, we aren't complete strangers, not by DNA, anyway. One of my ancestors married yours, almost a hundred years ago. And that's when war began. The two families weren't happy with their marriage so they fought each other. Both our dads are very distant cousins, and they hate each other to the core"

"B-but why do they still hate each other? Wasn't the war nearly a century ago?" She asks.

"Yes it was, but things like this are passed on to every generation. But the first thing that sparked hatred between our current families specifically, was when your grandfather and dad, killed my mom's parents while robbing their house" He explains.

She gasps in shock "M-my appa a-and grandpa killed your grandparents? I-I can't believe it. Appa was always cruel but I never expected him to go that far for money... a-and grandpa, he was always so sweet to me... he loved me...."
