I was woken up by the sun shining onto me, and Samantha calling my name. I reached out to try and close the curtains that hung on my canopy, but I realized Samantha was holding them back.
Suddenly I realized why Samantha had woken me up. It was my first day of school.
"Sam, why do I have to go to school today?" I whined like a little kid.
"Because the principal said so. Now get your ass up or you'll be late," Samantha laughed. I couldn't help but let out a laugh as she hit me with my pillow.
Eventually I gave in and got out of bed. Samantha left the room so I could get dressed. I put on a Blink-182 shirt and some skinny jeans. I brushed my hair and let it fall naturally again, before adding my finishing touches of makeup. I put on my trusty black converse and walked downstairs. I smelled food as soon as I got halfway down the stairs, and I smiled. Samantha had made us breakfast.
There were two plates of bacon and eggs, along with two mugs of coffee on the table. I thanked her for the breakfast and we ate in comfortable silence.
I noticed Sam was wearing boring, professional lawyer clothes, so I figured she must have a case today. I downed my coffee fast, and she wished me good luck for school. I wished her good luck too for her case too. I knew she'd win though. My sister was a kick-ass lawyer.
I gulped as I walked outside to the bus stop. I wasn't ready to face a new school. I tried to keep as much distance between myself and Gerard at the bus stop, but, as we were both waiting for the same school bus, it wasn't exactly easy. I took my bag off of my shoulder, trying to find something to distract me from the awkward silence between Gerard and I. As I searched through my bag, it slipped out of my hand, causing the contents to scatter all over the sidewalk. Gerard just scoffed and kicked a pencil that had rolled to him back towards me. I rolled my eyes. I really wasn't in the mood for him to be a douche today.
After I had gathered all of my stuff, I stood back up and shot a glare at him. "Thanks for the help," I muttered sarcastically.
He rolled his eyes. He looked like he was about to say something, but he stopped as soon as the bus came. He just scoffed as I walked away from him. I shoved him out of anger before I stepped onto the bus.
I sat alone at the front of the bus. I didn't feel like being around many people. We made a few more stops before we finally arrived at school. I took a deep breath before I exited the bus, ready to become the new girl again. I nervously walked into the school and immediately heard some whispers.
"Is that the new girl?"
"She's an emo!"
I tried to ignore it as I looked down at my schedule. I had English class first period, then history, then math, then lunch, then science, then art, then music.
My schedule seemed pretty great. I loved art and music! I sat in a corner by myself until the bell rang. I went off to English class. Luckily enough, Gerard wasn't in my class. When I walked in, the teacher sat me next to a girl with blonde, dip-dyed hair. She was wearing a sweater with cats on it, some tribal leggings, and some Ugg boots. I figured she wouldn't like me. Just by looking at her, I could tell she was a popular girl.
We wrote down some vocabulary words and defined them in English class. It was really easy. Once the bell rang, I headed off to history class. History class went by fast, because I wasn't paying any attention. I never liked history. Lucky for me, Gerard still wasn't in my class.
Math and science went by really fast. I had always been good at English, math and science. History just wasn't my best subject.
Next up was art class. I was excited. I loved art! All my excitement dropped as I walked in and found Gerard already there. He was sitting alone in the back, with one empty desk next to him. I walked up to the teacher's desk and waited for her to assign me a seat.
"Aha! You must be Lillian! I'm Mrs. Davis! Go have a seat right next to Gerard over there. I'm sure he'd love to help you get started!" Mrs. Davis said, her voice full of excitement. I gulped as she told me to sit next to Gerard. I sighed loudly and sat down next to him.
He groaned and shot me a glare. I just scoffed. He laughed each time I made a mistake, and I was pissed.
"What the hell is your problem with me?" I asked. He just shrugged and continued his drawing. I worked on my drawing for a bit. I was drawing a scene. It was two adults fighting in the middle, with me curled up on one side, and Sam curled up on the other. Mrs. Davis had asked us to draw something that describes our past. This was mine. We were always adopted by families that either hated each other, or hated us.
I looked over at Gerard's drawing. He had drawn what appeared to be him, and a group of people around him. He drew everybody else in color, and himself in black and white. He noticed me staring at his drawing and quickly closed his sketchbook.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-" I started.
"Whatever," he interrupted.
"It's a great drawing," I said, attempting to at least be nice to him.
"Thanks," he mumbled.
As the bell rang, I put all of my art supplies away, and headed off to music class. Gerard followed. Great. He must have music class with me.
I sighed as I walked in. The teacher told me I could sit wherever I want. I didn't know where to sit. Nobody seemed very welcoming.
"You can sit with me if you want," Gerard mumbled quietly, not making contact with me.
I smiled slightly and took my seat next to him. Our teacher, Mr. Samuels announced that we would be writing a song with the person next to us. I have to write a song with Gerard?!
"Looks like we're partners," he murmured.
"Looks like it," I agreed.
"You have this period to discuss song plans with your partner, but I suggest you work on it outside of school as well, if you want it completed in time," Mr. Samuels explained.
I turned to Gerard, hoping he would start a conversation, but he didn't. He just sat there, staring off into space. I guess he still hates me. But why did he offer me this seat? I was so confused.
