It had been about two weeks since Jamia and Frank had thrown that party to announce their pregnancy. Gerard had been acting a bit strange, and it was starting to worry me. I know he's been busy with the band and writing comic books. Maybe that was it. I tried to brush it off, but with each day where he'd stay in the basement all day without even talking to me, I was getting more worried. We had turned our basement into a little work room for him and I since Samantha was never home. There were desks for working on art and instruments for working on music. It was nice. But I couldn't help but think of the worst. What if he doesn't love me anymore? What if he changed his mind?

Today I was going to go downstairs and check on him. I needed to know what was going on. "Hey Gee," I said happily as I came down the basement stairs.

"Hey," he said, almost coldly.

"I just came to see how your work's going," I murmured.

"It's going fine. Goodbye now," he said. Now I was hurt.

"Oh... O-okay. I'm sorry," I muttered sadly. "I just wanted to spend some time with my boyfriend," I sighed.

"So now you're saying I don't spend enough time with you? Lily, I have work to do! Unlike you! You just sit on your ass all day! Some of us actually have work to do!" he shouted.

"You think I don't do anything around here? I clean the entire house, Gerard! I make dinner for you every night! I get all of the bills sorted out. We're not teenagers anymore, Gerard! Who do you think does all of the housework? Do you think it magically happens? No! I fucking do it," I screamed back.

"I could do it myself," he scoffed.

"I guess you're saying you don't need me then. I'll just get out of your way," I sobbed, taken aback by his harshness.

"Uh-huh," he said coldly. I was crying now. I took the promise ring off of my finger and set it on the desk next to him.

"Here you go. You promised to never hurt me again. You lied. If you don't need me anymore, take your fucking ring. I don't need any more empty promises from you," I spat. I ran upstairs and pulled out my suitcase. If he didn't need me anymore, there was no point in staying, right? I'm sure one of the girls would be willing to let me stay with them for a few days.

I put a few clothes into my suitcase before I heard a quiet knock on the bedroom door. "Go away," I scoffed.

"Baby," he sighed sadly. Then the bedroom door opened and Gerard's eyes widened. "Baby please don't leave me," he whimpered.

"Why not, Gerard? You said it yourself. You don't need me," I spat.

"No! Baby please! I didn't mean it! I know I fucked up! I didn't even realize what I was saying until I saw your promise ring on the table. Please don't leave me. I'm sorry," he pleaded. I looked into his eyes and saw that he was about to cry. He looked like a sad little kid.

"It's okay Gee. I'm sorry I overreacted," I sighed.

"You didn't overreact. I'm sorry," he said. "Oh, and don't put your promise ring back on. I can replace it."

"Gee wha-" but he cut me off by getting down on one knee.

"Lily, I've known you for six years now, and a lot of those were spent with me being too much of an asshole to get you back. There were so many times when I would have died if it weren't for you. You saved me every single time I wanted to end it. I wouldn't have gotten through rehab if it weren't for you. As time goes by, I start loving you more and more, and I didn't even know that was possible. You're my Killjoy and my fellow leader of the Black Parade. I love you more than anything, Lily. I'm sorry I've been stressed lately. I've been so busy with comics and the band and trying to find the right time to say this. But I think now is a perfect time. I love you, Lillian Mae Gage, but would you make me the happiest man alive and become my Lillian Mae Way?" he asked. He pulled out a velvet box with a ring even prettier than my promise ring in it. It was gorgeous. I cried tears of joy.

"G-Gee of course I'll marry you!" I exclaimed. He stood up and hugged me and spun me around. He slipped the ring on my finger and more tears came out. He looked like he was going to cry too. We just kissed passionately and both cried tears of joy.

I couldn't wait to become Lily Mae Way and get one step closer to doing something I've always wanted to do; start a family.
