It had been two years since I dumped Gerard now. It took me ages to get over it, but with constant support from Jamia, Samantha, Taylor and Hayley, I did it.
It was hard to ignore him at first because we were neighbors and went to the same school. Eventually though, it got easier, because one day he just stopped trying. At first he'd show up at our house and call me constantly. I never answered, and suddenly, the phone calls and the doorbell ringing stopped. He never tried again after that first year. Then we graduated high school, and it became even easier.
The Ways still come over and visit often (without Gerard of course). Mikey was still like a little brother to me. None of them ever mentioned Gerard and I's situation. She knew it was a touchy subject. I even met Gerard's father once. He seemed just as great as Donna. Gerard and Mikey sometimes go away. They're in a band now. Mikey's only fifteen, but he's a kickass bass player. Frank and Ray were also in the band. Frank and Ray both played guitar. Jamia always wanted to tour with them, but she really didn't want to be nice to Gerard. I told her not to let me influence her decision, but she did it anyway.
Samantha and I still lived in the same house. So did the Ways. Only, things were much different now.
Samantha would leave for months at a time for huge cases in New York city. She was a huge lawyer! When that happened, all of the girls (Taylor, Hayley, Jamia) would stay with me though. I was never as lonely as I was two years ago.
Then again, I left home for months at a time a lot too. I was a pretty big hair and makeup stylist now. I got to accompany some of my favorite artists on tour so I could be their personal stylists! It was amazing! Now that Taylor and Hayley were each in bands, sometimes I'd even get to tour with them! Imagine that! Travelling the world with your best friend, and all you had to do was the occasional hairdo or makeup routine. We were living the good life now.
At the moment, I was flipping through my planner book. I didn't have any tours coming up, and Samantha was leaving again soon. Ugh! But just then, I got a call on my cell phone. I didn't recognize the number, so I decided to answer formally. "You've reached Lillian Gage, personal stylist for tours of artists of all types. How may I help you?" I answered.
"Ah, yes! Lillian, it's me, Dave," I recognized the voice as Taylor's band's manager.
"Oh hey Dave!" I said.
"So Taylor has just informed me that she'd like you to accompany her on their upcoming tour. Are you free then?" he asked.
"Of course!" I said.
"Alright then. Taylor will be over momentarily with the details, then we'll meet back here for you to sign the paperwork, okay?" he said.
"Alright. Thank you," I said.
"No problemo, Lillian! I can't pass up on one of the best makeup artists in the business, can I?" he said.
"I'm definitely not one of the best, but I'm flattered. Thank you so much!" I said.
"No problem, kid. I'm gonna let you go now. See you soon, aye?" he asked.
"Definitely," I said. I waiting for him to hang up, then I closed my cell phone and went downstairs to wait for Taylor. Samantha was busy packing up her stuff in her room. Her case started tonight.
When the doorbell rang, I jumped up to get it. I greeted Taylor with a hug and stepped aside to let her in.
"Lily, I want you to know, no matter what Dave says, it's not too late for you to back out of the tour," she said. We walked over to the couch and sat down.
"Why would I do that?" I asked, clearly confused. She said nothing but she handed me a flyer advertising their tour.
My heart sank when I read the flyer; The Pretty Reckless and My Chemical Romance.
