It has been a few days since Bellamy came back and everything has changed. People are being trained on how to use guns and I am back to not speaking very much. A lot of people saw the hug between Bellamy and me the day he came back, including Finn. For some reason, Finn is mad at me and Bellamy. But, today is Unity Day so Monty has made plenty of moonshine and everyone is celebrating.
"My friends, this is a historic Unity Day. Every year, we mark the moment our ancestors of the twelve stations joined to form the Ark, but this is the last time we do so while aboard her. Next year, on the ground," Jaha says. They had rigged up a way for us to watch and listen to Unity Day on the Ark. I haven't gotten to experience this in a long time.
"Right. After we did all the work. Someone shut him up."
"You shut up, Miller. No one's forcing you to watch," Raven shouts. I am leaning against Bellamy and his arms are wrapped around me as we watch the speech. He traces some shapes onto my arm, giving me goosebumps.
"For ninety-seven years, we have eked out of existence, hoping that someday our descendants would return to Earth," Jaha continues. I glance up at Bellamy right as he looks down at me. We both smile and look away quickly. All of a sudden, Jasper burst in with a new batch of moonshine.
"Whoo! Yeah! Monty strikes agian! Hey! Call this batch Unity Juice! Who's thirsty? Monty! There you go." I can feel Bellamy chuckle. He leans down so that I can actually hear him talk.
"Go grab a drink. You deserve it." I shake my head no. I want to watch the whole ceremony.
"To our sons and daughters on Earth listening to this message, we will see you soon. THe first Exodus ship will launch in under sixty hours, carrying you the reinforcements that you need, so stay strong. Help is on the way." Drinks make their way around so I actually end up with one. Bellamy doesn't take one. We watch a little longer until there is a disturbance and everything goes dark on their end.
"What the hell?" someone yells. Bellamy lets go of me and heads outside, following Clarke and Raven. It takes a couple minutes before I can make my way out because everyone is trying to leave and get more to drink. There are games going on all around the camp and everyone seems to be having fun. I go over near Bellamy. Once I get near, he carefully grabs my drink and takes a sip before handing it back.
"Hey, the comms are still dead. They cut out during the pageant," Clarke says walking up to us.
"Best Unity Day ever," Bellamy says with a lot of sarcasm.
"Do you really think now is a good time to be having a party? I mean, the Grounder is out there," Clarke says when Bell takes another sip from my drink.
"Grounders. By now, he's made it home. He's probably putting together a lynch mob. Relax, I got security covered. Why don't you go get a drink? You look like you could use one," Bellamy says. He seems extremely calm for this situation.
"I could use more than one," Clarke responds.
"Then have more than one. Clarke, the Exodus ship carrying your mother comes down here in two days. After that, the party's over. Have some fun while you still can. You deserve it."
"Yeah. Okay. So do you by the way," she says. She looks between the two of us. Basically everyone knows by now because of how we have been acting around each other.
"I'll have my fun when the Grounders come." Clarke walks away. I set my drink down. Bellamy looks at me and lightly touches my arm to get my attention.
"You okay Ash?" I look up and smile at him.
"I am tired. I think I'm going to go lay down for a bit," I say quietly. In reality, I just didn't want to be around a lot of people today.
"Okay. Sleep well," he says. He gives a quick kiss on my forehead before I walk back to the tent. Little did I know that the day was just going to get even more interesting.
