Finn is the one who found me in Bellamy's tent. I cried until I could cry no more. Now all I felt was numb. I don't even know what I was looking at. I had finally opened up to someone and they left. Just like my parents.
"Hey, Ash," Finn waves his hand in front of my face. I just stare ahead. In my hands, I hold Bellamy's shirt. Finn was about to grab my arm when we hear yelling coming from the dropship. Finn turns but I don't move.
"He's gone. The grounder is gone!" We can hear the panic.
"Ash, did you eat any of the nuts?" Finn asks. He is really concerned but I just sit there. Finn decides to leave me there and see what all the commotion is all about. Then I hear a voice that I never thought I would hear again.
"Let the grounders come. We've been afraid of them for far too long, and why? Because of their knives and spears. I don't know about you. I'm tired of being afraid." I carefully make my way out of the tent and my eyes immediately stop on Bellamy. He has been beat up but not too bad. And now he carries half a dozen guns.
"These are weapons, ok, not toys, and we have to be prepared to give them up to the guard when the dropships come, but until then, they're gonna help keep us safe."
"And there are plenty more where these came from. Tomorrow, we start training, and if the grounders come, we're gonna be ready to fight." Everyone is cheering. Bellamy hands over the guns. His eyes scan the crowd for someone. Me. I run forward and throw myself into his arms. He holds me, my legs wrapped around his waist and his hands under my thighs holding me up. I begin crying all over again.
"I'm sorry. I never should have thought to leave. I'm sorry," he murmurs into my hair. He keeps saying it and soft words until I am calmed down. Without words, Bellamy carries me out of the middle of camp and to his tent. Once back in the tent, he sits me down in the bedding area. Before he could do anything else, Clarke comes into the tent.
"Bellamy. It's time." Bellamy tries to block me with his body so Clarke doesn't see but he moves just enough to where Clarke can see me.
"Ash," she says as she rushes forward. Bellamy turns and blocks her from getting to me.
"Give us a minute, I'll be right there," Bellamy says. After she leaves he turns back to me.
"I will be back. I have to talk to Jaha. I will make this up to you too," he says. He lightly touches my face, almost like he is scared I will shatter under his touch. He presses a kiss to my forehead and leaves the tent once again.
It was maybe thirty minutes later when he came back. I was mostly asleep when he lays down behind me pulls me into his chest. I wake up just enough to roll over so my face is burrowed in his chest. For the first time in a long time, I really felt safe in Bellamy's arms, dozing off on Earth.
