We Are Grounders Part 1

Bellamy's P.O.V.

After we got Myles back to camp, we found that Monty was gone. Ash is ignoring me, for good reason. I am too worried about protecting everyone that I don't have time to worry about her being mad at me. As long as she is safe.

"Come on. These foxholes aren't gonna build themselves. Better hope those landmines work. All the gunpowder we're wasting, we could be making more grenades," I say.

"You want to come over here and test one?" Raven offers. I just look at her, stone faced.

"Cute. I need this entire section mined by morning. THen you finish the south field."

"Hey... I told you, we're going after Finn, Clarke, and Monty in the morning," she says standing up quickly.

"And I told you, nobody leaves camp," I say. I turn around and begin walking away.

"I'm talking to you," she says as she grabs my arm. "We can't just abandon our people. You want to lead them, show them you give a damn." A gunshot goes off. Raven and I rush over to where it went off.

"Hey... What the hell is the matter with you?" I say as I take the gun from his hands.

"I'm sorry man. I fell asleep. I've been on watch all day," Sterling complains.

"We've all been on watch all day! That bullet was one less dead grounder." I am pissed and can't calm down.

"Bell, you're scaring people," Octavia says softly.

"They should be scared! The bomb on the bridge bought us some time to prepare, but that time is up! The grounders are out there right now, waiting for us to leave and picking us off one by one when we do! Clarke, FInn and Monty are gone, probably dead, and if you want to be next, I can't stop you, but no guns are leaving this camp! This camp is the only thing keeping us alive! Get back to work!" I walk away from everyone, fuming. I enter the dropship and Jasper follows. Ash is taking care of Myles, as she is the only one who knows medicine at camp.

"We need to go after them Bellamy," Jasper says to me. My anger dissipates when I see Ash, guilt filling me instead.

"Don't you think I want to go after them, too?"

"If it was you out there, you think Monty, Clarke, or FInn would hide behind these walls?" I realize that he is right.

"No. They'd go after me. Then they'd be dead too. I am doing what I think is right for the group."

"It's funny. You didn't think that way when Octavia or Ash went missing," Jasper says. Murphy climbs down from the second floor and Jasper turns to leave. Murphy says something to Ash and she heads to the second floor.

"Where are you going?" I ask Jasper.

"More gunpowder for your minefield... sir." Myles moans and I turn my attention to him.

"Water... please," he whispers.

"I'll get you some," I say. I exit the dropship to get him water.

"Water," he says as I leave.

Ash's P.O.V.

As much as I wanted to leave camp, Clarke never returned and Myles is hurt. I decide to stay long enough for Clarke to return. Murphy had asked me to go upstairs and check something out and he would watch over Myles. I mainly went to get away from Bellamy. I never confronted him on what I knew but he knows that I know and doesn't try to talk to me. I am looking around when I hear muffled shouting from down below. I make my way down and see that Murphy is suffocating Myles. There is a clank and Jasper is standing there, witnessing the same thing.

"He stopped breathing. I was... I was trying to help him," Murphy says. I notice the gun in his hand.

"Murphy, just put the gun down," Jasper says.

"He tried to kill me." I take a step away from the ladder and he points the gun at me. "Hey, don't move."

"Ok. Ok. It's cool," Jasper says. Both of us are holding our hands up.

"No, it's not. You know what'll happen to me if you tell Bellamy," Murphy says.

"Tell Bellamy what?" The noise comes from Jasper as he has a walkie-talkie. Murphy quickly makes his way over and grabs me, putting the gun against my head.

"Give me the radio, Jasper," he says. Jasper and I hold eye contact. I give him a small nod and he whips the radio out and quickly talks to Bellamy.

"Murphy has a gun and Ash. He killed Myles," he blurts out. Murphy points the gun at Jasper.

"Go close the door for me, and you will live," he says in my ear. I go and hit the button, closing the three of us in the dropship.

Bellamy's P.O.V.

I watch as Ash walks to the door and closes it.

"Murphy! Murphy! Open the damn door!" I yell as I pound on the door. Murphy speaks on the radio.

"You try to be a hero, Ash dies." I freeze. Everyone has stopped working around camp. The situation just got a lot worse.

It has been almost 30 minutes and I pace around outside the dropship and Octavia runs up to me.

"I just heard Murphy has Ash and Jasper," she says.

"Yeah. South foxhole all done?" I ask. I am trying to distract myself from the fact that Ash is in danger once again.

"What? Bellamy, my friends are in there with a killer!"

"O, look around. No one's working. If the grounders attack us right now, we're all dead." Octavia grabs the radio out of my hand.

"Murphy! Murphy, if you even touch either of them, I swear to God, you're dead," she threatens.

"Octavia, I got this," I say.

"Really? Because it doesn't look like you're doing anything about it," she says angrily. Raven comes running from behind the dropship.

"Bellamy, you were right. There's a loose panel on the back. If I can pop it, we can get in through the floor." Octavia realizes that I have been trying to save them this whole time.

"Sorry." She backs off. I hop back on the radio.

"Murphy, I know you can hear me. All our ammo and food is in the middle level. You know that. You're leaving us vulnerable to an attack. I can't let that happen."

"Yeah, well, in case you haven't noticed, you're not exaclty in control right now," he says back over the radio.

"Come on Murphy. You don't want to hurt Jasper or Ash. You want to hurt me. So, what do you say? How about you trade them for me?" I offer.

"No," Octavia says.

"All you have to do is let them go, and I'll take their place."

"Bellamy, if you do this, he'll kill you," Octavia says.

"If I don't, he will kill them," I say to Octavia. "You open the door, I walk in, they walk out," I say to Murphy. There is creaking as the door opens again. Murphy yells from inside.

"Just you Bellamy. Unarmed."

"Take this," I say as I hand off my radio.

"Ten seconds or I'll put one in Jasper's leg! One..." He begins counting down.

"Raven will find a way to get you out," Octavia says. She gives me a hug.

"I can handle Murphy. Get everyone back to work. The grounders are still coming," I instruct.

"- four... five..."

"I'm here," I say as I get to the entrance. I enter the dropship. Murphy pushes Jasper out of the ship and closes the door. Ash is tied up and gagged to the ladder to the upper floors. This is not what we had agreed on.
