THE SUN WAS NOT WHAT WOKE SHERRY UP IN THE MORNING.
Sherry Opal would've been fine with this if it wasn't for the fact that it was exactly what she wanted to happen. Before going to bed the night before, she had purposely left both the blinds and the curtains for her window open so when the summer sun shone through the window and a new day awoke, Sherry would too.
After all, it was the day that she and Remus would be hopping back on the train to Hogwarts for their sixth-year. Sherry was ready, she thought. After the fight with Stephanie, the disposal of both her and Matt and no Potter or Black in the house, Sherry had time to collect herself. Time to forget about everything, to reinvent who Sherry Opal was.
Her days were muffled by loud music, her windows were always open and supplying fresh air into her previously stuffy room. One whole day she had even spent tidying which at the end of the day made her feel a lot better and a lot more relaxed with the neatness. She started getting better sleep, eating better but not too much, getting dressed into comfortable things rather than things that made her body look like the most admirable thing about her.
The only day out she had in the week leading back to the start of September was when she and the Lupins went to Diagon Alley to get the supplies they needed for the new year. Their letters came in the morning at the breakfast table, startling Hope when the owls flew in. And along with the Hogwarts letters, came their O.W.L results.
"Oh my god." Remus choked, putting a hand to his mouth as he gulped down his eggs and looked over his letter. Sherry hadn't even bothered to open hers yet and just kept eating her toast, furrowing her eyebrows at the boy.
"Expensive books?" Hope frowned, wiping some butter from her lips and Remus shook his head slowly as his eyes scanned his letter.
"I got 8 O's." Remus mumbled in disbelief and Lyall's fork clattered to his plate as he stared at his son who became more excited and a wide grin broke out on his face. "I got 8 O's! And one E! I passed everything!"
Sherry widened her eyes and scrambled for her letter, ripping it open and tipping it over, letting two folded paper fall from the envelope. She grabbed one and opened it to see the usual Hogwarts letter, threw it aside to Lyall who caught it with a small noise of shock before she grabbed the other one and opened it up.
