"IT JUST MAKES NO SENSE."

"Mhm."

"He just suddenly loves her?"

"I suppose so."

"Even though he had like no feelings for her at all?"

"Yep."

"And he said that thing about her appearance."

"He did."

"And he fucked her sister!"

"So what got you reading books?" Amber asked her friend as they stood together in Potions class on a fine late September morning. She was smiling amusedly at her friends ranting as she stirred the potion they were both meant to be working on but Sherry had left Amber to instead.

"This stupid anger management thing that Louis has me and Anthony on." Sherry said, ripping up one of the ingredient leaves in her hand as she stared down at the Potions table inquisitively. The leftovers of her ripped leaves littered the desk, the smell actually quite nice for a Monday morning.

"You're still doing that?" Amber collected the little green bits from where they had fallen from Sherry's hands, dropping it into the water and watching them burn slowly just like the book said. It was a fairly simple potion. "I thought you stopped."

"Yeah..." Sherry trailed off and pursed her lips, squinting her eyes and looking guilty. Amber slowed her stirring to a small stop and narrowed her eyes back at her friend in suspicion. "Then I kinda ripped up my Defence homework and threw it all in the fire when I realised that there was a third task."

"Sherry." She chuckled disappointedly and Sherry raised her hands in defence, dropping the leaves she was still holding and Amber grabbed to deposit into the cauldron that was slowly turning a bright orange colour. "Do you think it's working?"

"Yeah actually." The blonde thought, looking off carefully into the distance towards the windows that look out towards the black lake. She was chewing gum in her mouth, discretely hiding it when Slughorn was in the vicinity. "We went on a walk together the other day and by the time I made it back to the dorm, Amelia-"

"Anna."

"Whatever." Sherry waved off, rolling her eyes as she picked up another leaf; Amber took it from her hand before she could start ripping it into pieces. "Anyways she was being annoying and I didn't even want to insult her, so I sat down and did my homework."

That fact was so outrageous and shocking that Amber even paused in her task of creating whatever potion Slughorn had instructed them to. Sherry nodded slowly at Amber's shock as she chewed on the strawberry flavour of the gum in her mouth. It was even shocking to Sherry herself that she hadn't said something to Anna that day.
