- Chapter Seventy-Eight -
"Shall we dance?""SO YOU'RE TAKING ME ON A DATE, AND YOU BRING ME TO A DUSTY TUNNEL BENEATH THE SCHOOL?"
"What? This isn't a perfect spot?" James asked the blonde girl by his side, raising his eyebrows in faux shock as they stood cramped together beneath the school in a narrow tunnel that had the walls with lined with dirt. Dirt that was crumbling with any little movement that the two of them made.
"I'm getting ugly dust in my hair." Sherry said in answer to his sarcastic question, pulling a just as sarcastic smile as she turned to him and he laughed boisterously. His laughs somehow caused more dust to fall off of the ceiling and onto them, making Sherry shove him again. "Is this seriously the place?"
"You're dating James Potter, and you're asking if I'm taking you on a date in a dirty tunnel?" James raised his eyebrows and gestured to himself, scoffing as though Sherry was being ridiculous. The girl by his side simply raised her eyebrows and gave him a tight smile, to which James looked affronted. "Okay, rude."
"You asked." Sherry shrugged, crossing her arms over her chest and narrowing her eyes at him in a playful way. Part of it was playful, part of it was suspicion and another little bit was anger. If this was really where he was taking her, so help her God...
"Good Godric, no, Sherry, this is not the place." James chuckled a little bit, shaking his head and making his curls bounce slightly. His sincerity calmed Sherry a little but the tunnel in front of them was pitch black and they had already walked a mile down the tight passage. "Patience is a virtue."
"When have you known me to be virtuous?"
"Excellent point, my dear."
After their small back-and-forth, James turned to go rooting in the small satchel he had brought down into the tunnel with them. Sherry sighed, watching him closely as his movement were lit by her wand light. There would be no use in asking him what the hell he was doing, as she assumed she would find out soon enough. Whether he was producing flowers, a water bottle or something else, she wasn't too sure.
There was a small moment of rifling before he let out a small 'aha!' sound and started to remove his hand from his bag. With him, came a shimmer violet blanket with weird little stitched patterns; it looked like something that belonged in a divination classroom. Sherry raised an eyebrow, her disbelief becoming more comical as he proudly showed her.
"Your grandmas curtains?" She guessed, smiling sweetly at him. James simply smirked, not perturbed by her comment as he raised the material high, letting it fall down so it pooled at their feet, getting in all of the dust of the tunnel.
"Close." He smirked - Sherry looked down to the material pooling at their feet, shaking her head before she tilted her eyeline back up. The sight before her was one to behold, a sight that shocked her into stillness for her boyfriend was gone. "My dad's cloak."
