4: Guardian

Cale woke up, facing a familiar face smiling at him. Who is it?

'Oh, it's Alex' he thought

"Bonjour!" she greeted, then rustled the red head's bed hair.

Cale stared at her, processing the moment and realised her being in his room in the morning in their house

Cale's mouth came hanging open for a second, then he panicky locked the doors.

"Heheh.... What a cute sight" she giggled
Cale stared at her deadpan. He's nervous of her appearance in his room.

"What?" she asked innocently

"What?! Why are you here?! Are you trying to get caught?! " Cale shouted quietly, nagging at her. "I'm a noble, people don't know who you are and doesn't have any invitation as a guest even if I know you and you even said it yourself you dont have anything on you as identification, what are you doing? Trying yourself to be killed? It's a crime! Trespassing! Trespassing!" he said in one breath then panted

"Nope. Just visiting my ward" she answered with a straight face
"Ha! Alex! Seriously!" Cale dont know what to do to her guardian

Yes, his guardian. Before they parted that night, Cale gave in to her offer since he got himself a guardian to rely on as she offered to him
That night before they parted.

"Hmm, since you still have attachment to your place, I'll lower it, I want to be your guardian, and you'll be my ward, how's that sound?" she said being impatient

'I thought she said she will not rush me?' Cale thought she's being childish. 'Well, it's kind of suspicious of her, but mother said she's reliable and I should accept her offers, but why would mother say that? Even father doesnt know about her secrets, what kind of relationship did they had? And why she is being trusted by mother?'

There are many questions inside his head, but trusting his mother's advice is the best option now, because of his difficult situation, he dont know how long his father will be in depressed state and act like his father. Deruth made him frustrated, Cale knows his unstable but what about him.

Cale also trusts his guts, even if they only known each other for a few meet ups he actually felt comfortable and safe with her, he felt he could rely on her. So...

"Alright..." Cale whispered, hiding his face down, embarassed of his snotty face. He felt good to have someone to rely on, he's about to cry
"Really? I dont want anything from you except learn and be my ward.... And be more courageous and prideful Cale, you're the lovely child we are proud of"
"I accept!" he lifted his face and shouted to answer as she wanted
"That's how it should be done" she nodded in satisfaction
But little did Cale know about his new guardian's being.
His chaotic but comforting days began.

He really little did know, and he's panicking now.

"It's not that they could see me, heehehe, how? Learn it" she teased
He took a deep sigh.
"Youre crazy Alex" Cale clenched his heart
"Don't worry, nothing can stop me from doing what I want"
"Yeah yeah, so could you please at least give me some warnings so I could prepare"
"There's nothing to prepare than yourself"
"That's why.... How should I say it, I cant be always disappear right? And I have duties to attend now"

"Duties? What duties?"

"Paperworks, father is unstable to work" he confessed. It was a secret, and should be or the county will fall.

"The f- Heck! Why are humans so frustrating? Can't they just work? Death isn't avoidable, you know.... I want to beat those who made you work...."

"It's alright, I can do those work, but it became harder a little bit everyday"
