12: A Dream or A Nightmare?

A cry of an infant could be heard in a forest, it was loud and strong, clear that there are residents inside the dense forest.

The residents mostly have bright blood color of hair, and they're beautiful for a human being, mostly have similar faces.

A young Scarlet first discovered the village while following the sight of the smoke signals that there might be a civilization inside the forest, her hunger for a decent food is what she wanted to spoil.

At first she was surprised to discover the village, and then she's grateful to encounter them.

"I am the village chief, may we know your intention for visiting us?" the old man asked

"I was lost and was finding a good shelter for the night, may I come into your village? I dont mean any harm to innocents" she admitted

They don't feel any bad vibes with her nor see a face that will conquer their village.

"Be our guest" they agreed to take her step inside the village.

A feast, everyone welcomed her.
"What is your name and where is your origin traveller?" the chief asked
"Alex le Scarlet, from the North Continent"

"The North? Isn't it just a god forbidden Continent?"

"I heard it's dangerous there, how did you got out alive?"

They barrage her a lot of questions and introducd their village and culture all night. They started to love her and she also started to love them.

'The village and villagers are lovely people, why do I haven't heard any of them?'

It was a joyful night and everyone rested on their places.

The next morning when the young Scarlet is setting off, it was cloudy and an ugly sign to set off, they insisted to keep the young Scarlet, and a loud explosion is heard, and a lot of villagers are running toward the chief.

And a soft voice and gentle taps woke her up.

"You're groaning, did you have a nightmare? Do you have nightmares? Are you alright? Do you want to cuddle?" Cale panicky  fired her questions, looking worried

(I WANT CUDDLE TOO!)

Alex took a deep breath and wiped Cale's coldsweat on his forehead.

"I'm alright, just a simple dream" She reassured him that she's alright.

"What dream did you have?" Cale asked to corner her if she's lying

"Your mother's hometown, and the lovely residents there" she answered calmly.

Cale got stunned for a second and threw a question.

"You know where my mother's hometown is?"

"Yes, Before she was even born I stepped in their village, I was welcomed there whole heartedly. They're nice and lovely people"

Cale got speechless. His mother told him about their hometown, and the path there is very dangerous even a battalion of strong knights and warriors couldn't get in there. Their hometown is surrounded by monsters, but they lived in there like a peaceful village, because a god blessed them protection but at the same time locking them in there.

'So they knew how strong Alex is, so they feared and respected her?' Cale thought, because Alex's mood of telling him about the village is a pleasant one. 'Mom said to me they'll take care of a strong one if they're able to pass the forest hundred times dangerous than the Dark Forest and ask them to pick a villager to travel with them to widen their horizons'.

It's no question that Alex is great and mighty, however why she didn't saved his mother?

"As she told you they treated strong ones with fear and respect, but being strong doesnt make you an omnipotent one, even gods cant do a thing if I wreck the world you know" she murmured patting his head, but Cale, who's practising his training diligently got his hearing enhanced.

"Alex, why would you do that?" Cale asked. 'She's not that vicious and crazy, there must be a reason for her to do that'

"Just as I just" she answered, not promising any answer.

"You're really great and mighty Alex, you're like a dragon" in awe he compared

"A dragon? Please no, we're very different in every aspects, we're more boring than them, we're lazier. You could think they're greater for being social, we're lame for that sh- thing" she almost slipped her tounge.

Cale hummed sarcastically. 'But you're also great and mighty, like a dragon'

That day happened very fast for Cale because his biological father introduced her new step mother to him like he doesn't have a voice nor a place in the house, it doesn't really hurt him a lot now because he already braced himself for this kind of day, but he felt his father broke everything with his mother and then he asked for the half of the wing of the house to be his territory like that was his last right after losing the case of inheritance. From then on they never saw each other formally and acted like strangers if they ever met.

The wedding was done fast enough for the position of the countess is occupied faster. And after 4 months a child was born from the new couple.
