Chapter 10

[ Time Skip About A Week ] [ Long Chapter ]

TW: Mentions of violence, panic attacks, weapons and blood

It's been a little over one week since NuNew had an argument with his father. He has yet to talk with him. He's not ready and if he's being honest he'd rather focus on trying to keep his emotions in check before the court. Especially since they leave for the court date in 3 days. Which means he will have to see Nate Tyler and the two other people involved. He will have to sit in front of the judge with only Max's father near him. So when he says he'd rather focus on keeping his emotions in check he means it.
" Have you guys started packing for the court trip yet? It's supposed to be cold in Bangkok while we are there " he says trying to start a conversation since it's a little quiet at their table. Everyone nods while Nat says " Me and Max are done packing. What about you NuNew? You probably don't have to pack that much right? Since it's your home town ". He nods his head " Since I'll be staying at my house with Hia, I don't have to pack clothes because I have a lot at home still ".
" How are you feeling about going back to your home town NuNew " Jimmy asked. He thinks for a little while. If he's honest he's scared to head back. He has no idea who he will see when he's back in Bangkok. " I'm nervous. I don't really want to go back. Especially to my house because it's so close to my old school. Not to mention my dad still hasn't tried to talk to me at all " he says quietly. " How about you Jimmy? Are you excited to go back to Bangkok. Since your father works there as well ". He nods. " A little bit. I haven't been to Bangkok in a long time. So I'm a little excited I guess " Jimmy said.
He hates how tense everyone currently is. The closer they get the more tense everyone becomes. He sets his fork back down on his plate and lets out a sigh. " What's wrong NuNew " Zee asked. " I hate how everyone is getting so tense the closer the court date is. I hate how even I, myself am feeling tense. I was really hoping that we could at least get one week or even a couple days of how we used to be before the trip. Everything has been horrible lately " he says upset. He doesn't have to look at everyone to know that they agree with him. " Is that all or is there more New " Zee asked in a gentle voice. One he's been using a lot more recently in order to encourage him to tell them when something's wrong. " I'm just nervous for the trial. I'm scared because I have to sit away from you guys and have to see them all again " he whispers. Zee just holds his hand. No one says anything else.
He looks around the room and sees several people staring and whispering about them. A common occurrence since the video went viral. Several people have sent him and everyone else support and encouraging words while others were saying rude things about him and Nat. However he still can't get used to it. Especially since today it feels like they have been staring and whispering about him a lot more.
" You heading to class NuNew " Nat says catching his attention. " Oh, did the bell just ring " he asked. Nat nods. He must have been in his own thoughts for to long. " I'll head to my class in a bit. You can head to your own " he says. Nat just nods and gives him a small smile before leaving. He stays in the cafeteria for 5 more minutes before finally heading to his class. When walking down the hallway he hears people saying " He went through all that. No wonder he transferred here. They almost killed him ". He also hears people saying " His screams sounded so horrible and sad. He went through so much ". This immediately makes him nervous. Was something else released. Why do they sound like they know about the first attack. He's beginning to panic.
When he's about halfway to class Emi approaches him. " What do you want Emi ". He asked. He's not in the mood to deal with her. " NuNew someone released another video. They said they were a teacher and got fired but they managed to save the video of the attack " Emi says nervously. He panics and quickly opens his phone looking at instagram. Just like Emi says the video is there. Emi goes to touch him but he flinches, taking a step back. Emi stops immediately. " NuNew " Emi says concerned. He looks around at everyone and sees that they're all staring at him. He begins to run. He needs to get out of there. He can't think straight when everyone's staring at him. He runs to the place outside of the school. Once Zee knows he will look for him. He will think to search that place. Zee has to.
Once he reaches the small building he falls down. He crawls near the wall and leans against it. He then pulls out his phone and looks at the video. It's a clear view of the whole attack. It starts when Nate's dragging him out and throwing him on the ground. It shows him getting beat up. It shows him begging Nate to stop. It shows Nate slowly dragging the knife around his body. It shows each and every single time they cut him with a knife. You see him fall to the ground and get kicked before they all leave. You can see him laying in a pool of his own blood. He lays their for 5 minutes before he slowly gets up and limps away out of view. Everything he went through that day is not just being shown in front of him but to the whole world. The worst part is the screaming. He's screaming so loud the entire time. He doesn't even know how many times he's watched it so far. All he knows is that he's hyperventilating and crying. How did they get the video. They said it got deleted. Who kept the video. Why wouldn't they just send it to him. Why release the video. He doesn't know why but he just screams. He screams so loud that people could probably hear him. Maybe he screams because he feels like his whole world is falling apart. Or maybe it's because he's watched the video so many times. He throws his phone to the ground. Shattering the screen completely. The videos sound continues to play even with the shattered screen. He pulls his hair frustrated and terrified. The sound is so loud. He can hear himself screaming in extreme pain. " This can't be happening! This is just a dream! They said there was no videos of it! This is just a fucking dream! Wake up NuNew " he screams hitting his head.
" Wake up NuNew " he screams again. " For fucks sake you need to wake up NuNew! This isn't real ". He screams again. He refuses to believe that it's real. It can't be " NuNew just wake up please " he says loudly. He looks up and sees his friends as well as the doctor rushing towards him. Zee found him. He knew Zee would find him. He forces himself off of the ground. He wraps his arms around himself. He can see everyone coming over to him but he can't hear what they are saying. All he can hear is that damn video of himself screaming. Only making him panic more. He brings his hands up to his hair and pulls at it. He just wants to not hear himself screaming. He doesn't want to hear it anymore. It's so painful to hear himself like that.
Everyone's in front of him now. He can see them trying to talk to him. He can see the doctor making gestures he doesn't understand. He shakes his head hitting it.
" I want it to stop. Make it stop. I don't want to listen anymore " he screams crying. He can see them confused. He desperately looks at Nat. When he sees that Nat is looking at him he loudly says " Make it stop Nat! It won't stop. I don't want to hear it anymore. It's so loud. It hurts ". He sees Nat look at him as if he's hearing him talk about the phone. He then sees Nat's eyes widen as he looks around before running over to his phone and turning it off. He falls to the floor once the sound goes away. Zee and the doctor rush over to him. " Hia. This is a dream. This is a nightmare. I can't wake up. They said they deleted the video. How " Zee cuts him off. " Shhh it's going to be ok. We are here ". He looks at all of his friends and can see them crying. It then hits him that it's real. Someone posted the video. He then realized that everyone's seen the video. His friends have seen the video. " You saw. You all saw it. The whole world is going to see it " he whispers looking at Zee. He notices the pain behind Zee's eyes. " It's going to be ok. We are all here for you " Zee says gently. " When Emi told me I pulled out my phone and it was there. I ran. I ran so fast. I could only think about coming here. I knew Hia would look here. You came. You came and found me. Hia's here. I'm safe with Hia " he says beginning to ramble. Zee pulls him into a hug. Gently patting his back. " I will always come and find you. I'm proud of you for going to a spot that I will look. You're so brave New " Zee says comfortingly. " We should get him to the office. The nurse should be in a private room waiting for us ". The doctor then looks towards him. " NuNew. Can you walk by yourself " the doctor asked him gently. He just thinks for a while. Although he's calmed down he doesn't think he can walk on his own. So he shakes his head no. " I'll carry him on my back. Can you help me get him on my back " Zee says asking the doctor. The doctor agrees and helps him get on Zee's back. Once he's on Zee's back he holds tightly on to his shirt. He then leans his head on Zee's shoulder exhausted from his panic attack. He's never expected that the video would be posted. He's never even expected that there was still footage of the attack.
When they get back into the school the last class of the day ends so students begin to flood the hallways. Meaning that they would see him.
" Omg did something else happen to him " and " Why is he carrying him. Did he get hurt again ". Are the most common things he hears. Making him tighten his grip on Zee's shirt. Zee just keeps whispering to him about how everything is going to be ok.
When they get to the office he can see that all of the staff are panicking. The principal has everyone go into a large conference room. Once inside the windows get covered and the door gets shut. He then gets off Zee's back and sits down in a chair. Zee sits down next to him. When he notices the open seat on the other side of him he quietly says " Nat. Can you sit in this spot. So I know where to look for you in case something else happens ". Nat quickly sits next to him. He grabs on to Nat's hand and just looks at his there hands. He's never been so glad to have Nat understand him. He's so thankful for him. He can feel a few tears stream down his face. Nat immediately wipes the tears away with his other hand. " Everything's going to be ok. You're going to get through this " Nat says. He just nods.
" NuNew can I take your temperature " the nurse asked. He nods and lets the nurse take his temperature. " You have a small fever but it should get better quickly " the nurse said. Before anyone can say anything else Jimmy's phone rings and he picks it up. " Don't worry ma'am. We are away from everybody now. What do you mean. No I didn't know about that " Jimmy looks at him nervously. He then walks over to him and hands his phone to him. " It's your mother. She wants to talk with you " Jimmy said. He nods taking the phone. " M-mom " he says in a shaky voice. " Oh NuNew. How are doing. We tried to call you as well as Zee and couldn't get through so we had Jimmy's father give us his number ".
" I had a pad panic attack but everyone helped. I made sure to go somewhere that Hia could find me " he says quietly. " Good job. I'm going to come and pick you and Zee earlier so you won't have to be in school. Does that sound ok " his mother asked. He looks at Nat. He doesn't want to leave Nat. What if something happens and they can't understand him. As if Nat understands he asked " Are you afraid they won't be able to understand if I'm not with you ". He nods. " I'll go with you if that's what you need. He nods. " Mom. Is it ok if Nat and Hia can both come. What if something happens and you don't understand what I need. Nat can understand me the most " he asked nervously. " How about if everyone is ok they can all come early so they will be there to help you. I know how much they help you. I can't imagine how stressful this situation is so I want you to have the people you need to support you ". He looks at everyone. " Would you guys be ok coming as well. I think it would be better that way. So I know that I'm ok ". Everyone nods and the principal says " I will contact your parents about the situation and will excuse the days your gone ". The principal then walks out. " We can take the two cars there like originally planned mom. You should just tell dad and then prepare ".
" Ok NuNew. Just text me when you guys are close to home ok ". He bites his lip. " I'm sorry. I panicked and threw my phone after watching the video. The screens shattered ".
" Don't be sorry. I will get you a new one ok. I love you NuNew ".
" I love you to mom, bye ". The call then ends. He hands Jimmy his phone. " Thank you guys for everything. I know I say that a lot but I really mean it. The more I think about this. The more I'm slowly realizing that I didn't panic as much as I would have. I only was panicking because I kept watching the video and I knew that everyone could see it like the other one " he says. He takes a shaky breath and says " Maybe. Just maybe. If I tell myself that it's good it was released I can start to feel better ". He can see the confused look on everyone's faces. Even the nurse and doctors face. " Although that's good you are trying to get better. Why is it a good thing it was released " the doctor asked. " There was no video of the first attack before. So they got away last time. I was told that there was no footage of anything. We can charge them for attempting to k-kill me now ". He says the last part quietly. " There's no way they can get away now. I won't let that happen. I will take it to the media if they let him get away " Nat says. He just smiles. " It's nice to know that you'll do that " he says smiling a little. Zee goes to stand up and as a reflex he grabs on to his arm. He immediately lets go when he realizes what he did. " S-sorry I just ". Zee gives him a reassuring smile and says " It's ok. I'm just going to talk with Jimmy ok. Everyone else will be here with you ". He bites his lip and nods. He watches as both Zee and Jimmy walk out of the room. He looks at Max. " You we're running. Are you ok P'Max. Is your wound hurting you ". Max smiles and says in a reassuring voice " I'm fine. I just recently took some pain medicine that the doctor gave me ". He looks over to the doctor not really believing him. " I did give him medicine. I would let him run if it was hurting him. Or if I thought that it could be dangerous for him to run ". He nods before saying " I just want to say this now. If for some reason I run away nervous like I do sometimes, I don't want you to follow after me if you are in pain. It will just make the situation worse ". Everyone nods. Shortly after Zee and Jimmy come back into the room. Although he's a little suspicious as to why they left the room he doesn't ask. " We should get our stuff since we are going to leave. I can get Nat's and mine. I will also get Zee's since NuNews stuff he's bringing is packed with Zee's stuff " Max says. " That's a lot and your hurt P'Max. I can go get my stuff see " he says forcing himself to stand. He's trying to hide the shakiness of his body. Max just walks over to him and has him sit back down. " Your whole body was shaking NuNew. Don't try to hide it ". He pouts before looking at Nat. He bites his lip. On one hand he's nervous that if Nat goes then something will happen and they won't understand him. While on the other hand, Max is injured. He looks between Nat and Max a couple of times before looking at Nat and saying " Go help P'Max please ". Nat looks at him a little worried. " I'll be ok. After you Hia is the one who understands me the most " he says trying to reassure Nat. Luckily it works and everyone heads to quickly pack the rest of their things and then come back down to leave.
The nurse checks his temperature before her and the doctor leave. Once it's just him and Zee left he feels a little bit more relaxed. He decides to bring the video up again. He turns to look at Zee and grabs both of his hands before saying " Hia, I can tell that you and everyone else has seen the video " he says. Zee nods slowly. " Don't hold in the pain. I want to be able to comfort you like you comfort me. I can't fully understand how you felt but I know that you must have been so angry and sad when watching that video. If you want to cry then cry. If you want to curse them out then do it ". He can see Zee start to cry. He rubs circles on Zee's hands trying to comfort him. " I can't believe someone would do that to you. I keep thinking about how they almost made it to where I never met you. And then when I saw Nate at the beach I just saw red. I was so angry after knowing what he did to you and then seeing him hurt Nat as well. I was so angry that the one time you weren't with us the situation happened ". He lets go of Zee's hands and gently wipes away Zee's tears. " I want you to know that none of this is your fault. Just like you said to me. It's only their fault for hurting me Nat and P'Max. Do not blame yourself " he says gently. Zee just nods. " I love you " Zee says. He smiles as Zee. " I love you as well ".

Sorry this took so long. I had written/planned this chapter for a while. I knew I wanted to do a time skip so I won't have to talk through them just going to classes. I also thought about what to add in this chapter. I have really wanted to add that there was actually still footage from the school because even if it makes him panic. It gives him a better chance of winning the case. So that's why I decided to add it in this chapter.
