Chapter 11

Both NuNew and Zee are waiting at his car. After a little while longer in the office they both decided to wait at the cars so they can arrive earlier at NuNews house. Since Bangkok is around 4 hours away they will get to his house around 6 or 7 pm.
" Sorry it took longer. Tommy couldn't find his charger " Jimmy says as they arrive after everyone else. He just laughs a little bit. " P'Jimmy can I have your phone please so I can type my address into your maps ". Jimmy hands his phone to him so he quickly typed his address. Once he's done he gives Jimmy his phone back. " Everyone ready to head out " Max asked. Everyone nods and then gets into the two cars. Once he buckled his seatbelt Zee handed his phone to him. " Please type in your address NuNew ". He takes Zee's phone and types his address into it before giving it back to him. He then turns to Nat. " Hey Nat can I use your phone real quick " he asked quietly. Nat nods his head and hands him his phone. He types his mothers number into his phone and texts her " It's NuNew mom. This is Nat's phone. We are just now leaving. Will be there in about 4 hours ". He then makes sure Nat's volume is down before opening his instagram and going to his account. He sees tons and tons of comments under his last post which is a photo of him and Nat at the beach. Just two days before everything happened. He then goes to read some of the comments. A lot of them just say how strong he is while others say he will get better soon. There are even people who said they saw the videos but listened to his covers and liked them. They make him smile a little. He's glad to have so many people who support him. But at the same time there are several other comments that are rude. He can find a lot of people from his old school mentioning how he's gay and calling him gay slurs. One comment sticks out the most though. It's from Noah and it says " This is what you get for liking me you ***. I'm glad that I outed you and started everything. You deserved it ". He's shocked that Noah would comment that. He can see others criticizing him while some agree that he deserved it. What did he exactly do that was so wrong. He just like someone of the same gender. If other people can love the opposite gender then why can he not love someone of the same gender. He just doesn't understand why.
" NuNew. Why are you crying " Nat asked catching the attention of Max as well. He brings his hand up to feel his cheek and sure enough it was wet from his tears. He takes a shaky breath before showing Nat the comment on his phone. " That person who wrote that. That's Noah. He started everything. He outed me to the whole school " he says. He can see Zee glancing at him a few times. " He was your first crush " he hears Max ask. He nods his head. " Childhood friend and first crush. Well no longer friends I guess ". Nat hands Max his phone and points to the comment. Max reads it off for Zee " This is what you get for liking me you ***. I'm glad that I outed you and started everything. You deserved it ". He can hear Max's voice turn into an angry tone as he reads it. " I'm ok though. I've had worse said to me before " he says trying to calm them down. He can tell they're upset by Noah's comment. " NuNew you were just crying because of it " Nat says like he's pointing out the obvious. " It wasn't from that. I was just thinking about a different thing " he says trying to calm Nat down. " NuNew what did you think of to make you cry " Zee asked. He takes a shaky breath. " I was thinking about how everything started " he says quietly. " What do you mean NuNew " Max asked. " Well everything started when Noah found out my sexuality. The first couple of times Nate and his group ever did anything to me it was because of my sexuality. I just don't understand their reasoning behind it. If they can love people that they want to then why can't I? There's nothing wrong about liking the same gender. I don't understand why they would try to take my life over it " he says a angry. He covers his mouth, shocked by how angry his voice came out. He slowly removes his hand from his mouth and quietly says " Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so angry ".
" Don't apologized NuNew because you have every right to be angry. What you said is true. There's nothing wrong about liking the same gender " Zee says while driving. " Why did you even go on instagram NuNew " Nat asked. He gives him a small smile and says " I originally used your phone to text my mom that we were on the way. Then I just wanted to see my account. I only looked at the comments under my last post. It's a photo of me and Nat the first day at the beach. A lot of people were sending us support and saying that I'm strong. I just happened to notice his account " he says. It's quiet for a while before Zee asked " During lunch on the first day back when you wanted to go for a walk and got upset. We're you talking with him that day ". He stays quiet for a while before saying " Yes. He wanted to apologize but it was a horrible apology and I told him I wouldn't accept it. We just started fighting and then he said basically the same thing you just herd ". He can see Zee tightening his grip on the steering wheel. " Hia, I'm fine it's nothing that important. Please calm down ". Once he sees that Zee is calmed down a bit he leans back into seat and closes his eyes. " I have a migraine " he whispers. Only Nat hearing him. " Close your eyes and lean on to my shoulder. You should get some rest. As soon as I see you start to have a nightmare I'll wake you up ". He opens his eyes and looks at Nat. " Thank you " he says before leaning his head on Nat's shoulder. He closed his eyes and tried to get himself to sleep. It took him around 30 minutes to be able to fall asleep. Once he did fall asleep he had a similar nightmare he had when the first video got released. He's sitting on a chair in a pitch black room with a TV in front of him. Only this time he's tied down to the chair and the first attack is playing. He tries to close his eyes and not watch it but when he does he feels someone grabbing his shoulders and making him open his eyes. He can't see the person. But anytime he closes his eyes he can feel the person squeeze even harder on his shoulders. It's painful. The person starts to shake him a little. No it's not them. It's Nat. He can hear Nat's voice calling him and saying " NuNew. Wake up your having a nightmare ". His eyes open and he quickly sits up. He bites his lip as he tries to calm himself down. When he does he looks up at Zee and asks " Hia can I take off the seatbelt. I feel trapped and in my nightmare ". Zee interrupts him. " Go ahead. You don't have to explain that right now. We are also almost to your house. Just five minutes away from it ". He quickly unbuckles his seat belt before looking out his window. " Oh no. The gps took us this way " he says quietly. He moves closer to Nat. Who in return grabs his hand and gives it a gentle squeeze. He looks at Nat and sees him giving him a gentle smile. When he looks back out his window he sees the school. As they pass by the school he notices protesters standing in front of it. They are yelling at the school for hiding what happened to him a secret. They are trying to make sure he gets the justice he deserves. " C-can you stop the car a little bit away Hia " he asked. " I don't think " . He interrupts him. " Please. It can be from a safe distance. I will stay by you Hia ". He hears Zee sigh before parking on the side of the road. Only when he gets out of the car does he notice that Jimmy parked the car behind them. When Zee gets out of the car he grabs his hand and pulls him to the sidewalk. They are a good distance away from the large group of people protesting the school. He just watches them in shock. Why would people who don't even know him, support him this much. How did they even know the school he went to. He hears them shouting towards the school saying tell the truth and release the security camera footage. Everyone else gets out of the car and stands with him. They are all shocked at the support he's getting.
" NuNew is that you. You're back " he turns around quickly at the familiar voice. It's the elderly lady that helped him. He immediately lets go of Zee's hand and runs towards her crying. " Mrs.Betty! I missed you " he hugs her. He can hear her tear up. She hugs him back before saying " Let me look at you. I herd what happened from your mother. How bad is it ". He smiles at her a little bit before lifting his shirt up and showing her the bruises. " It's only a few bruises. I should be getting better soon ". He can see the relief flash in her eyes. He then remembers that all of his friends are there. As well as Zee. " Mrs.Betty I have a group of people I want you to meet ". She smiles. " Are they the ones in the videos from the beach " he frowns a little. " You saw the video from the beach " he asked quietly. " I saw both dear. But don't worry. It gives me a better understanding of why certain things effect you the way that they do ". He gives her a small smile before turning around to his friends. " Guys I want you to meet Mrs.Betty. She was the one who helped me out and called the ambulance ". They all smile and say hello to her. " Mrs.Betty these are my friends I made at my new school. They have helped me recover a lot since the first attack happened " he says smiling as if he's proud to show off his friends to her. He point to Nat. " That is Nat. He was the first person I became friends with. He can understand what I'm thinking just by looking in my eyes. He's my roommate and also introduced me to everyone else ". He then points to Max. " He's P'Max. He's helped me a lot. He was the reason I was able to show people my scars for the first time ". He then points to Net. " He's P'Net. He always teases me but I tease him back as well. He always helps brighten the mood. He also helped me get out of the two peoples hold so I can go to Nat ". He then points to James. " He's P'James. He was the one to help me relax a bit during the attack and was able to let me feel a little more safe ". He then points to Tommy. " That's P'Tommy. At the beach when they were coming to check on me and Nat he stopped P'James and an officer after noticing I was scared. He then knew how to talk with me and to have me realize they won't hurt me or
Nat ". He then points to Jimmy. " He's P'Jimmy. He also helped me get away from the people holding me back. He's also the son of my fathers coworker ". He then looks at Zee and smiles. " The last one is Hia Zee. He's my boyfriend " he says quietly with a red face. " I know about Zee dear. Your mother told me about everyone especially Zee " she says laughing. His eyes widen. " It's nice to meet you all. Thank you for treating NuNew well and helping him recover as much as he did " she says. " He's told us a lot about you Mrs.Betty. He talks about how you helped him and gave him a lot of comfort that day. He also told us about the day he saw you after he left the hospital. He says that you were the first person to make him feel happy in a long time " Tommy says. Mrs.Betty turns to look at him. " Well I'm glad I good help him as much as I did. You guys must have been heading to your house NuNew. I was just about to head there after I went home real quick. So I'll meet you in a bit ok " she says patting his arm gently. He nods his head. " Ok, I'll see you soon Mrs.Betty ". They all say goodbye to her before getting into the cars and heading to his house. Once inside the car he says " I need to talk with my mom and ask her what she has said. So embarrassing ". The three of them laugh. " It's a little sad that she had to see both of the videos though. She thinks of me like her grandkid so I can only imagine how hard it was for her ". Nat grabs his hand and squeezes it. " Like she said, it will help her understand why certain things effect you as much as they do ". He looks at Nat and smiles. He then turns to look outside and watch as they get closer and closer to his home.

Sometimes people seeing what you've been through can be a good thing. Even hearing about it is a good thing. Because then they can realize that they shouldn't do certain things that might effect you. It can also help them see why those things effect you so much.
