Chapter 15

When NuNew wakes up in the morning it's
10:00 am. So he quickly gets up and takes a shower. When he's done taking a shower he dries off in the bathroom before changing into a white shirt sleeved shirt and a pair of black jeans. When he walks back into the room Zee is going through his bag. " Sorry for last night Hia. I kept you up long " he says quietly. Zee looks at him and gives him a reassuring smile while saying " It's ok NuNew. A lots happening lately ". He just nods before walking over to him and sitting on the bed next to Zee's bag. " Which hoodie do you want for today NuNew " Zee asked. He thinks for a little while before saying " Whatever I'm the last one you wore is. That way it will smell like you can I can feel like your with me " he says. Zee smiles before grabbing the hoodie that everyone got together at the beach. It's a baby blue hoodie with a large white sun on the back of the hoodie. " I wore this one yesterday " Zee says as he hands him the hoodie. He just smiles as he puts it on. " Thank you Hia " he says before standing up and hugging him. Zee hugs him back tightly. Shortly after Zee pulls away and kisses him on the head he smiles. Zee then kisses him on the lips. It's a short but sweet kiss. He smiles and says " P'Max's dad will be here soon so we better go into the living room " he says a little sad. Zee just grabs his hand before gently pulling him into the living room. When they get there P'Max's father is already there waiting for him. He can feel his anxiety rise. His hands start to shake a little bit. Zee just gives his hand a gentle squeeze. " NuNew I already told Max and Nat this but I want you to know that there are security guards that will escort you into my car so no one can hurt you " Max's father says. He nods his head. He then turns to Zee and gives him one last hug before he leaves. " You'll be ok. You can do this NuNew " Zee says. When he pulls away from the hug he slowly walks over to Nat and grabs his hand. Nat just squeezes his hand gently. Max's father is the first to leave the house after him it's Max then followed by Nat. He's the last to go outside. As soon as he's outside there's a lot of shouting and it starts to make him panic. When he's halfway to Max's fathers car he freezes and starts to panic. He looks around nervously at the crowd. There's way more people then he had imagined. They are all trying to get towards him. He's scared. He just wants to go back and be with Zee. When one of the guards touches him he flinches away scared. His hands start to shake a lot. People are shouting and pointing his shaking hands out. People are filming him. " NuNew " he hears Nat say loudly. He quickly turns around and sees Nat holding out his hand. He slowly grabs his hand. Nat then quickly takes him to Max's fathers car. He opens the door for NuNew and closes it once he's inside. He watches as Nat quickly gets into the car on the other side. Once Nat is inside the car he puts the seatbelt on for him. Nat then does the same for himself. He bites his lip and wraps his arms around himself. Trying to stop himself from crying. " NuNew are you ok. What happened " Max asked. He shakes his head no. " There were so many people shouting. They were trying to get to me. I-I got scared and they noticed that and started pointing at my hands cause they were shaking " he says quickly. Nat goes to touch his shoulder but he flinches away. He lowers his arms and looks at Nat's hand. Nat opens his hand and holds it still. Giving him time to grab ahold of his hand. He takes a deep breath before slowly reaching over to Nat's hand and grabbing it. As soon as he does a few tears fall down his face. He takes a couple of shaky breaths and starts to calm himself down. Max's father calls someone. Once the other person answers Max's father says " What's the situation like down there " Max's father said. " There's a not of protesters. On one side of the street are homophobic protesters while on the other side of the street are several lgbtq people. There's also a lot of reporters on both sides ". He bites his lip hard. " Dammit. Ok I want you to get as many people as you can to help escort my clients. One of them is having a hard time with everyone trying to get to him " Max's father says. " I saw the news video so I immediately asked everyone to prepare for them to arrive " his eyes widen a little. He pulls out his phone and drowns out the sound of Max's father talking with the other person. He opens instagram and he's already met with videos of him leaving his house. He can see the panic in his face. He notices that Nat called for him more than once. He can see how bad he flinches away from the guard and how Nat quickly pulls him to the car. He sees tons of comments saying how rude the reporters were for charging at him even though he's clearly scared. He also sees hate comments calling him weak. When he shuts off his phone he hears Nat say " We're here NuNew ". He quickly looks outside to see around a hundred people. Stuttering he says " I-I don't know if I can do this ". He looks between Max and Nat. " Wait to get out of the car until me and Nat are there. We can all walk side by side ok " Max says. He bites his lip anxiously and nods his head. " I'm going to drop you off at the entrance. I'll meet you guys inside after I park " Max's father says as he pulls in front of the building. With shaking hands he slowly unbuckles his seatbelt while Nat rushes over to his side. He then opens the door and slowly gets out once Nat is there. Nat and Max both grab ahold of his hands. They all walk forward up the stairs of the court house together. Several guards surround them in a circle so no one can get to them.
His hands are still shaking when they enter the court house. They are constantly surrounded by people. Even though they are there to protect them it still makes him nervous. They only stop surrounding them when Max's father comes over to them and tells them that it's ok now.
Max's father has only two guards follow them as they walk down a long hallway. There are several people walking through the hallway. Some in handcuffs and some not. He unknowingly walks closer to Max. They walk for around 5 minutes until he hears a familiar voice shouting in the hallway. " I don't care. You are my lawyer make sure he don't win this damn case or my father will sure you ". He freezes and backs up. She shakes his head. " No. I don't want to go over there. " he says quietly. He puts his hood over his head. " What's going on NuNew " Max's father asked and he immediately tells him to be quiet. Unfortunately he herd his name. " Did you say NuNew! Where is that little bitch! I'm going to kill him! ". He starts to have a panic attack. He looks up and makes eye contact with Nate. His eyes widen as he back away from Nate as he tries to run over to him. He falls to the floor and screams. His whole body starts to shake. " Please don't hurt me " he repeatedly says loudly. He watches as one of the guards forces Nate down the hallway. The whole time Nate is screaming and cursing at him. He brings his knees to his chest and holds them there. " I don't want to be here. He's going to get me. He's going to hurt me " he says. The guard comes to help him but he quickly scoots away from them. Max's father tells him to back up.
" NuNew, can me and Nat come over to you. We will do it slowly " Max says. He slowly looks at Max and Nat before looking around him. Several people are looking at them and it just makes him even more panicked. " NuNew focus on me and Nat ok. Don't look anywhere else " Max says. So he turns to look at them. He slowly nod's giving them permission to walk over to him. He watches them closely. When they get half way he says " S-stop " quietly. Both of them immediately stop. He pushes himself off the floor and slowly makes his way over to them. Max holds his arms open for a hug. When he reaches them he immediately hugs him. Max wraps his arms around him and he starts to cry. " I'm scared P'Max. He got so close to me. He said he was going to Kill me ". Max gently rubs his back. " Let's hurry up and get to the room ok. When we get in there we can call Zee and everyone else to help you calm down. Does that sound ok ". He nods his head and Max stops hugging him. He grabs onto Nat's hand.
They quickly make their way to a large office room. When he gets into the room he lets go of Nat's hand and goes to the other side. Sitting down in a chair that has a clear view of the door. Max and Nat sit in the chairs next to them. He just brings his legs up on the chair and holds them against his chest. He lays his head down on his knees. He's still shaking a little. The incident keeps repeating in his head. Over and over. He didn't think Nate would be here. Why was he here. He wants to go back home so bad.
When Max lightly touches him he flinches. Max immediately says sorry. He then looks at Max's phone that he's pointing towards him. On the screen is a worried Zee. " H-Hia " is all he can say. " Hey New " he says in a gentle tone. " How are you right now. Are you starting to calm down? Or are you still scared ". He takes a deep breath before saying " I-I'm still scared but I'm calming down. P'Max and Nat helped me " he says quietly. He lowers his legs off the chair and wraps his arms around himself. Trying to imagine it's Zee hugging him. " P'Max and Nat are there so they won't let him hurt you ok. There are also a lot of guards who are there in order to protect all three of you guys. So you are safe ok. No one is going to hurt you " Zee says reassuring him. He just nods his head. " You'll only be there for a short while ok. You can come home soon ". He nods his head. Before anyone can say anything else the door opens and he immediately grabs onto Nat while looking at the door. When he realizes that it's Max's father with two other people he slowly calms back down. Although he's still nervous with the two strangers in the room. " NuNew, you have to go have the meeting now so I will hang up ok ". He doesn't want to end the call but he knows the sooner he does the quicker he can go home. So he nods his head slowly as the call ends. He watches as Max's father slowly walks over to him while saying " NuNew I had no idea he would be here and I'm sorry. I wouldn't have let you walk down the hallway if I knew he was in it ". He just slowly nods before looking at the two strangers. " Can they come over here and introduce themselves or would you rather them stay over there. I know you had a hard time with people coming towards you and we just want to make sure you are comfortable " Max's dad says. He thinks for a while before slowly nodding.
" I-it's ok for them to come " he says while grabbing ahold of both Max and Nat's hands. Max gently squeezes his hand to comfort him. He watches cloak as the two strangers make there way over to them. They stop next to Max's father. They're about 5ft away from him. " Hello guys. I'm Mrs.T the head attorney for the court case " the lady in a black and white pantsuit says.
" Hello I am Mrs.F the second attorney for the court case " The taller lady in a white dress says. He gives a small smile while Nat and Max introduce themselves. When it gets to his turn he says " Hello, my name is NuNew. It's nice to meet you ". Both of them smile at him gently. " I want to let the three of you guys know what mine and Mrs.F's job is and what we will be doing " she says as the three of them sit down on the other side of the table. " Our job in the court room is to present the evidence as well as question people while they are giving their testimonies. Another thing we do is come up with a sentence as well as charges for the person the case is against ". He nods his head when they look at him making sure he understands. " The first thing I want to start off the meeting with is explaining how the trail days will go. Mr.Kornthas has told me he explained most of it ". They all nod their heads. Mrs.T smiles before continuing. " Tomorrow will be the first day of the trial. The main thing we will be doing is presenting all of our evidence we have against them. As well as the charges and what we want the sentence to be. For NuNew this will be the hardest day out of the three because we have to show some graphic videos and images of what happened. The interviews you did as well as the journals you had given Mr.Kornthas. For day two we will start to hear the testimonies of the first group of witnesses. Which will be your friends that are not here, doctors, NuNew's parents as well as Mrs.Betty. On the last day we will start off by having everyone else testify. The first person to testify will be Max. After him it will be Nat's turn. Once they are both done giving their testimonies. Nate's group will all testify. After them Nate is going to testify. The last person to testify will be you NuNew because you are the main victim involved in this situation. Once everyone is done giving their testimonies we will say the closing statements as well as repeat what we want their sentences to be. The jury will then go deliberate the case and come up with the final sentencing. After that the sentence will be said. You will then get a chance to say something final to Nate and the others. Then the case will be closed. Does that all make sense ". They all nod their heads. " Ok good. The next thing I want to ask you is what charges do you want to charge them with. Let's start off with Nat " Mrs.T says. Quietly Nat says " I want to charge them with assault because they were beating me up ". He watches as Mrs.F writes down everything. " What about you Max. What would you like to charge them with ". Max thinks for a while before saying " Assault with the use of a deadly weapon ". Mrs.T nods before looking at him. " And lastly what would you like to charge them will ". He thinks for a little while before quietly asking " Can I say multiple things ". When he sees Mrs.T nod her head he says " I want to charge them with a hate crimes because that's what it started off with. If possible I would like to add stalking because they knew where I was all the time and even knew where I lived. I want to add assault with a deadly weapon as well " he says quietly. " Is there anything else " Mrs.T asked him. He nods his head before saying " He tried to kill me so I want to definitely charge him for attempted murder. I want to charge them with any possible thing I can to make sure they get life in prison " he says quietly. Mrs.F quickly writes down what he's said. " Do you all want them to get life in prison " Mrs.T asked and they all nodded. " Ok. That's all we really needed it was a lot shorter than expected because Mr.Kornthas explained most of the things to you already. All of the security guards are waiting at the front entrance. While two are outside ready to walk with you " Mrs.T says. " The three of you will stay with the guards up front until they tell you to head to the car. I will go drive up to the entrance again like before " Max's dad said. They all nod as they start to head out of the room and towards the entrance. This time he's holding on to Nat's hand. When they make it to the entrance the guards surround them almost immediately. Around five minutes later the guards tell them to hurry and start walking to the car.
When they get outside the shouting it's extremely loud. He hurries down the stairs trying to ignore all of the flashing lights and shouting. When he makes it into the car he quickly closes the door before buckling his seatbelt. Not to long after they head back to his house.
It takes around 15 minutes for them to reach his house. When they get there Max calls Jimmy saying that they're here and to prepare to open the door. He nervously gets out of the car when the guards come get him. As he's heading towards the door he hears someone shout " Take this you *** ". Before something warm and thick is spilled all over him. Some guards who were standing to the side rush to the man and tackle him. He can hear everyone gasp. He slowly looks down at his hands and immediately becomes terrified. His hands are covered in what looks like blood.
