Marigold's POV
2013 - Freshman Year of College
"I know!" Harry's wide grin shined brightly through the phone screen. "It's so crazy, Mari! Who would've thought that we would blow up as much as we have?!" The smile on Harry's face never went away as he continued to fill me in on what's been happening in his life.
Of course, I was more than happy to sit here and listen. Harry started a band with some he met in his music theory class. It was meant to be for fun, really. They played here and there on campus and posted videos of them covering songs on YouTube. All it took was one viral cover of The Chain by Fleetwood Mac before the numbers started growing. They're channel grew rather quickly from there. Quicker than anyone could've imagined. Harry Styles was on the rise. My Harry Styles.
"I'm so proud of you, H." I smiled.
I missed him.
Unfortunately for me, we agreed that we wouldn't be tied down to each other. We were no longer dating and we were states apart. We both expected that we wouldn't make the other person the number one priority.
The beginning of the year we facetimed almost every night. More often then not, we'd be studying till midnight and then we'd fall asleep on the phone still. Eventually it turned into weekly facetimes. And I don't know exactly when or how it happened, but then they turned into very brief biweekly facetimes. By brief I mean no more than 10 or 15 minutes.
I couldn't be upset with him though, we're both in school and his career was just starting to take off. This whole Youtube music thing is grey area for everyone. Besides, we weren't in a relationship, he doesn't have any obligation to give me attention. Something I have to constantly remind myself.
"I can't wait to see you so I can tell you all about it." He grinned. "When are you going to fly out and visit me, huh?" He raised his eyebrow at me. "Sarah says she misses you. It's been a while."
5 months to be exact. 5 long months away from my best friend.
"Hopefully soon. If my manager ever decides to give me time off." I pouted.
"Well, then I'll come to you. I miss you, petal." Harry sighed, a small yawn escaping his mouth.
"You better get some rest... You've got a big day tomorrow." I reluctantly said. It was already 2 AM and Harry had a big meeting with some sort if producer tomorrow morning.
"You're right.." He said sadly. "Don't worry, I'll come visit you soon. I promise." He shot me a smile. "Goodnight. I love you, Marigold."
2020 - Present Day
That was the last time I talked to Harry. 7 years ago, Harry made a promise he wouldn't be able to keep. I never thought I would talk to him ever again. Harry never visited, never called back, never answered my texts, never said another word to me after that facetime call. He grew bigger and bigger, his fanbase grew to millions in the matter of 6 months. I knew that I had lost him.
I knew it was over.
So you could imagine my surprise when Harry Styles, international pop star strolled straight into my shop just a few minutes ago. I was frozen in my spot behind the counter eyes wide and heart racing, he hadn't noticed me yet as I was off to the side arranging a custom bouquet.
Harry was wearing workout clothes, like he was out for a run. He wore a loose long sleeve shirt, nike shorts, a pair of runners and a hair clip held his hair snug on the top of his head. He looked good, he wasn't even trying and he looked good.
