Harry's POV

My laptop was placed on the kitchen island. Marigold and I stood in front of it, the sonogram in hand as we waited for my mom to answer the Facetime call. She was sure to be in for a surprise; the last time she checked, Mari and I were broken up. Now, here we are, in an unspoken form of relationship with a baby on the way. Definitely not the ideal situation, but neither of us would trade it for the world.

The sound dinged, and we watched as the words changed from "Facetime Video" to "Connecting..."

Marigold squeezed my hand. Mom's face appeared on the screen with a grin.

"Hey baby—"

A gasp erupted from her mouth when she registered what she was looking at. "Shut up!" She screamed, shooting up from her couch. "Stop it. Stop it right now." Her hand flew to her mouth as tears instantly welled up, and her words became muffled.

Marigold and I couldn't help but laugh at her reaction; we had predicted that this is exactly what would play out.

"Hi, Mum," I smiled, putting the photo down onto the island.

She wiped her eyes with her fingers, taking a deep breath as she tried to compose herself.

"Hi, my babies." She chuckled. "Oh my goodness." She smiled widely at us. It took her a few minutes to calm herself down, the shock and excitement was rushing through her at full speed. "Congratulations." Her mouth formed into a pout, and I knew she was feeling a lot of emotions right now.

We had a long three-hour phone call after Marigold and I broke up. Mom seemed to be almost as distraught as I was. I guess it made sense though—Mom and Dahlia always wanted Marigold and me to end up together. I fucked up the first time, and this time around was our real shot at getting that life together. Of course, I fucked up again.

"There's still a lot we need to talk about..." Marigold said nervously, her eyes glancing at me. "But for now, we're okay." She nods with a small smile. "You're going to be a grandma, Anne." Mari turned her attention back to the screen. Mom's been nagging both Gemma and I about when she'll have her own gran-baby. Daisy was more than enough for her but I just know she's buzzing right now.

Mom couldn't stop herself from clapping, her smile never leaving her face. "Looks like I'm due for a visit soon! We've gotta celebrate this together! Does Gemma know yet?"

Soon enough, Mari and Mom had found themselves deep in conversation—what I like to call "Mom talk." Something that always happened whenever they were on the phone or in person together. I guess I can expect it more often now, they were talking about baby names and nursery room colors, jumping from one topic to another.

"I'm going to check on Daisy; I'll be right back," I whispered to Mari, kissing her head before heading towards Daisy's room.

I knocked on the door lightly and slowly opened it. Daisy sat on the floor, her stuffed animals surrounding her.

"Hey, baby love," I smiled at her as I stepped into the room. "Can I join you?" I asked. Daisy nodded, scooting over and patting the carpet beside her.

"What are you doing?" I asked, once I was sitting in front of the crowd of stuffed animals she laid out.

Daisy shrugged, picking up a baby doll off the floor. "Just playing," she said simply. A silence fell over us as Daisy hummed to herself and moved the toys around.

"Harry?" Daisy paused her humming, turning her attention towards me.

"Yes, Daisy?" My eyebrow arches.

"You and mommy are having a baby, right?" she asked. I nodded my head. We told Daisy about the baby the day after we got home from South Carolina. We weren't really sure how she would take it. There were a lot of things to consider.
