Marigold's POV

Last night after dinner Harry insisted that we had a movie night. Of course, Daisy was all for it, anything to stay up late and to watch a movie, she loves movies. So that's exactly what we did, Daisy's movie choice of the night was Enchanto. It was great, it was fun, it was happy.

It was a very drastic difference from what we're doing right now.

Much like the last time we had dinner, Allie was having a glaring contest with Jacob. Except this time, Harry and I joined the contest. Jacobs eyes scanned over ours around the table, fists clenched tight on top of the table, his jaw clenched shut.

"Coffee refill, anyone?" The waitress came to the side of the table, coffee pot in hand. Allie took the liberty to nod her head at the waitress.

Jacob's eyes locked onto mine and only mine. I didn't dare tear my gaze away, the waitress reached over the table to grab Harry's mug beside me and I didn't even so much as blink. I wasn't going to lose this stare down.

He cleared his throat, ripping his eyes away from mine and I smiled to myself in victory. He either got too uncomfortable under my stare or just knew that I wouldn't be the one to back down. Either way, I didn't care.

"Are we going to stare at each other all day or are we going to talk?" Jacob raised an eyebrow at me. I resisted the urge to snarl just by the tone of his voice. I hated this.

"Talk, obviously." I rolled my eyes.

My body was tense the moment we stepped foot out of the car. Harry's hand on my thigh could only ease so much of my anxiety right now. Although I do appreciate his small acts of affection to remind me that I'm not alone at this moment, all I could think about how badly this could end.

Our food sat in front of us on the table yet none of us would even touch it, we didn't even lift a fork. Everyone besides Daisy of course, who was happily going to town on her pancakes, not stopping once to question the weird air at the table.

"Is everything alright? Did the food not come out okay?" The waitress came back to our table, seeing as it's been a good 10 minutes since she dropped off the food and nobody has touched anything.

"Food's fine. Thanks." Jacob was short with the waitress, dismissing her without a second thought.

"Are you just a dick to everyone you come across?" Allie scoffed, I tried to stifle my laugh. Normally, I would've scolded her for her choice of words but Jacob deserved it.

"Are you really going to talk like that in front of my daughter?" Jacob cocked his head to the side at Allie. The way he said my daughter made my stomach sick.

As soon as the words came out of Jacob's mouth I felt Harry's hand tense on my thigh, squeezing it tightly before relaxing a few seconds later.

Harry hadn't said anything since we've sat down, besides when he gave the waitress his order. Other than that, he's been a silent bomb ready to explode on Jacob as soon as he says something out of pocket.

"Okay, let's just talk about why we're really here. Please." I gave in, dropping the harshness in my face. The faster we finish the conversation, the faster we can leave.

"Gladly." Jacob smiled at me. It was twisted. To the eye of any random person, it would seem genuine and even kind. Jacob's eyes said everything though, and the look he was giving me now was enough to tell me exactly how he's going to play this conversation.

"I would really not like to involve lawyers in this. I think we're both adults and we can handle this without starting a custody battle." I took a deep breath. Jacob kept his eyes on me as I spoke, his face was now blank and showed no emotion to what I was saying.
